Top-Ten Fantasy Running Backs (Week 10)

Aaron McGheeNov 6, 2008

These top-ten backs have terrific matchups headed into Week Ten and we should see several dominant performances from them. Be sure to take advantage of early draft position, skip receivers and be sure to grab one of these stud running backs.

LaDainian Tomlinson: Tomlinson has about the best match-up of the weekend. The Chiefs rank dead last against the run in both rushing yards allowed (182) and touchdowns (14). Tomlinson still ranks amongst the top three backs in the league and now that he’s 100% expect his weekly fantasy value to continue to rise. Projected Points-24

Adrian Peterson: Green Bay is playing decent defensively, but not against the run. The Packers are allowing 146 yards and yield at least one touchdown per contest. Peterson has finally hit a groove so expect another productive game in Week Ten. Projected Points-22

Michael Turner: New Orleans has somewhat turned things around defensively, but this game is a complete shootout on both sides of the ball. In his last three games, Turner has combined for 23 fantasy points but he’s faced some pretty tough defenses. The Saints don’t classify as a tough defense. Projected Points-20

Brian Westbrook: In his last meeting against the eventual Super Bowl Champions, Westbrook combined for 154 yards and one touchdown. The Giants only allow 85 rushing yards per game but Westbrook has continuously hurt teams in more ways than one. Projected Points-19

Jamal Lewis: In eight-man leagues drafted before Thursday night Lewis is an excellent option. Denver ranks 26th against the run and they travel clear across country on a short week. The defense is hating every bit of that. The Browns inserted Brady Quinn in the lineup so Lewis will get a lot of work. Projected Points-18

Frank Gore: Gore faces an Arizona defense that’s only giving up 92 yards per game. However, he is coming off of a bye and expected to be fresh and ready to go. Gore is another back with versatility and playing on the big stage (MNF) adds value to his week ten. Projected Points-18

Chris Johnson: Tennessee does many things well, but they run the ball the best with their one-two punch of Lendale White and Chris Johnson. This will be a ball control/field position game in Chicago and Johnson will benefit from it. Projected Points-17

Marshawn Lynch: The Rams come to town and they bring with them the 29th ranked run defense. Lynch has been somewhat steady all season long, but he’s coming off a week in which he produced just six fantasy points. Things will be different this week. Projected Points-17

Ronnie Brown: Well, we all know that Seattle isn’t going to stop anybody and to make matters worse they travel clear across country to face a 4-4 Dolphins team. Brown will find paydirt once again this week. Projected Points-17

Thomas Jones: Jones has been pretty consistent over the past four weeks by averaging 16.5 fantasy points per game. This week he gets the leagues 29th ranked run defense, St. Louis. Projected Points-16
