Floyd Mayweather Outshines Victor Ortiz on 'Face Off

Mick AkersJun 3, 2018

Last night the anticipated "Face Off" series premiered it's latest episode featuring welterweight opponents Floyd Mayweather and Victor Ortiz who are set to fight on September 17th.

Throughout the show Mayweather was as calm as the eye of a hurricane, and Ortiz seemed to be star-struck being a table's distance away from the undefeated, five-division world champion.

As Mayweather threw out sly comment after comment, Ortiz seemed very unprepared, and said nothing of real meaning in the entire 15 minute broadcast.

Mayweather had all the right things to say during the face off, while Ortiz was a loss for words.

Every time Mayweather said what he had in mind to beat Ortiz, Ortiz just said that he would do the same thing and wasn't prepared to answer how he would try to beat Mayweather.

With Ortiz's confidence obviously not there, he has a long way to go to stand any chance to even compete with Mayweather on September 17th.

Both fighters agreed this is just another day for Mayweather. But to Ortiz it is the biggest moment of his life, and it appears that the pressure is getting to him as the fight grows near.

Mayweather is the king of trash talk and psyching his opponent out, and he already appears to be getting inside Ortiz's head.

As Ortiz was talking Mayweather went off the subject a few time, mentioning how Max Keller(the host) was wearing Prada shoes, and saying he wasn't paying attention to Ortiz, causing Ortiz to get angry and flustered.

Don't get me wrong. I feel Ortiz does posses the skill to beat Mayweather if he executes his game plan—whenever he does come up with one—perfectly, but with his confidence seemingly at a low point Ortiz could be in for an awakening when he steps in the ring with one of boxing's elite.
