UEFA Will Hear Jose Mourinho Appeal His 5-Match Ban Tomorrow

According to a breaking news report from Reuters Africa, UEFA will hear the appeal presented by Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho. UEFA had imposed a five-match ban against Mourinho for statements he made during the UEFA Champions League match between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.

Mourinho accused UEFA (as well as the referees) in assisting FC Barcelona within the last three matches of the UEFA Champions League. Mourinho made these accusations during one of the matches when Real Madrid lost to FC Barcelona.

UEFA slapped a $73,000 fine on Mourinho for his comments during the final leg of the UEFA Champions League. According to the same report from Reuters Africa, Mourinho made some comments about UNICEF and FC Barcelona during the press conference.

While UEFA regulations allow Jose Mourinho to appeal because his ban are more than three matches, I have the feeling that things will remain the same. The only exception would be if Jose Mourinho were to bring proof (on paper) that will give legitimacy to his accusations.

UEFA will probably uphold the Mourinho ban to reinforce respect for its authority and not show signs of weakness. UEFA was fair in its punishment of Real Madrid and FC Barcelona since its goalkeeper Jose Manuel Pinto also served a ban imposed at the same time.

It remains to be seen what will be the final decision by UEFA.
