BJ Penn Trains with Famed Boxing Coach Jason Parillo Ahead of UFC 137

Joshua CareyJun 7, 2018

BJ "The Prodigy" Penn (16-7-2 MMA, 7 KO) is once again honing his striking skills under the tutelage of boxing legend Jason Parillo.

Penn and Parillo previously worked together during the Hawaiian’s dominance over the UFC lightweight division.

During that span, Penn viciously defeated the likes of Sean Sherk (TKO), Diego Sanchez (TKO), Kenny Florian (submission), and Joe Stevenson (submission).

Additionally, world champion boxers Johnny Tapia and Paul Spadafora both benefited while training under Parillo.

Before his coaching career kicked off, Parillo was 8-0 with six knockouts as a professional boxer.

Parillo recently told Bleacher Report, "I went out there (Hawaii), trained BJ and connected with him right away. He realized that I had something to offer him and I spent a good four-and-a-half years out there"

Needless to say, Penn and Parillo have formed a successful combination and "The Prodigy" will undoubtedly be in top-form when he returns to the Octagon against Carlos Condit in October.

Penn will co-headline UFC 137, which takes place at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nev. on October 29.

In addition to his work with Parillo, Penn has recently worked with UFC vets Justin McCully and Troy Mandaloniz.

As seen in the video provided by www.bjpenn.com, Penn and Parillo have wasted no time in readying the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt at RVCA Sport Center for another run at a world championship.
