Scott Speed Will Sell You the Shirt Off His Back

At NASCAR's upcoming race at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR), Scott Speed will literally sell you the shirt off his back, all for a good cause.  He is unveiling a T-shirt that he personally designed for a charity that is near to his heart.

Several years ago, Speed was diagnosed with a digestive ailment called ulcerative colitis.  This illness is a form of inflammatory bowel disease and often affects young adults.

The disease can be debilitating, causing diarrhea and other digestive problems.  Speed has admitted that often when he is in the throes of an attack, he even has to wear adult diaper protection as a precaution, a real challenge under his racing fire suit.

Speed, in an effort to help others suffering from the same illness, decided that he would combine his creative side with his charitable side, actually designing the T-shirt himself. 

His original art work is dubbed the "muffin man" for his whimsical portrayal of a muffin baker.

Scott has teamed up with the Muze Clothing Co. to produce the "muffin man" T-shirt.  The founders of Muze, Bill Deacon and Mark Dimond, design a T-shirt each year to promote a specific charity.

Muze's first charity shirt was a T with the slogan "Hope is a good thing."  This first shirt supported the ALS Society to call attention to Lou Gehrig's disease.

Speed's "muffin man" T-shirt is the second charity shirt in the Muse line and will benefit the Southwest Chapter of Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America.  100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of the shirts will be donated to that specific charity.

The shirt will be available at the Phoenix International Raceway and will sell for $40.  Shirts can also be ordered online at www.muzeclothing.com.

Speed will debut at PIR this weekend in the Craftsman Truck series, as well as competing in the Cup race on Sunday.  Scott will also be available to autograph any shirt purchased at the track.
