Brett Favre: Why Brett Favre Isn't Headed to Philadelphia Eagles
I blame two wellsprings for the rumor of the Philadelphia Eagles possibly bringing Brett Favre aboard next season as their backup quarterback
I blame the man who reported it, Howard Eskin of 610 WIP Sports Radio, and the "sources" who told him the Eagles were interested in Favre.
Tweeted Eskin on Saturday:

Great...now we all must be subjected to more Brett Favre un-retirement rumors. Exactly what I want to hear to start off my morning.
Of course, the prospect of Favre coming back to football after the NFL lockout (which I'm assuming is anytime now) is never out of the question. It would actually be more surprising at this point if he stayed retired.
And the latest rumors of the Eagles seeking him aren't far-fetched, given they will probably trade backup QB Kevin Kolb and will need someone capable of starting if Michael Vick goes down to injury.
What is laughable is that Favre would choose to be a backup if he came back to football.
The future Hall of Famer's unwillingness to help the up-and-coming Aaron Rodgers when Favre was with the Green Bay Packers is well known.
Also, given that Favre led teams on while he was in "retirement" shows he has a huge ego.
Lastly, he's not going to want to be a backup, languishing on the sidelines, at nearly 42 years old, when he (presumably) has little left to offer.
All the latest rumors indicate to me is that Brett Favre will haunt me forever and will never leave this sports writer alone.
