Key Abbreviations: YPC (Yards Per Carry), YPG (Yards Per Game)
1. LaDanian Tomlinson (San Diego Chargers) vs. Kansas City
Coming off a bye week, L.T. looks to right what is a sinking ship—at least in his world. He has 766 combined yards and five touchdowns on the year, which is solid, but less than you’d expect from the first-pick overall like.
Kansas City has allowed 14 rushing touchdowns this year as well as 182.4 YPG. Against a team that he torched for 309 yards and three touchdowns in two games last season. Tomlinson is an excellent play this week.
Point Projection: 24 points
2. Adrian Peterson (Minnesota Vikings) vs. Green Bay
Green Bay has a very susceptible rush defense that has allowed an average of one touchdown on the ground per game, as well as almost five yards per carry. Peterson has ran well so far this season and should continue his successful ride. Chances are he will be even better than the 17 points he put up against the Packers back in week one of the season.
Point Projection: 22 points
3. Frank Gore (San Francisco 49ers) @ Arizona
Arizona has featured a strong running defense, allowing less than four YPC and less than a touchdown per game. Luckily for Gore owners, he is a rushing machine and has a solid receiving game to boot. Remember when these two teams met in Week One Gore started the season off strong—with 20 fantasy points.
Point Projection: 18 points
4. Michael Turner (Atlanta Falcons) vs. New Orleans
Turner runs excellent in weeks against weak competition but struggles against good rush defenses. There's no middle ground. This week, he takes on a Saints rush defense that is 18th in the league giving up over 100 yards per game. Turner will get his fantasy points this week.
Point Projection: 17 points
5. Maurice Jones-Drew (Jacksonville Jaguars) @ Detroit
MJD has had a pretty big up-and-down year so far. While Jones-Drew has missed double digits five times on the year, he's reached the mark three times. This week, he takes on a Detroit rush defense that has allowed over 160 YPG, as well as giving up almost 1.5 rushing touchdowns per game. This should lead MJD to his fourth double-digit outing on the year.
Point Projection: 17 points
6. Willie Parker (Pittsburgh Steelers) vs. Indianapolis
Parker can accumulate rushing yards with the best of them. This week, he takes on the Colts' rush defense that has allowed over 140 yards on the ground, with at least one touchdown. The Steelers will look to ride Parker in this one, especially if Big Ben's shoulder comes into play.
Point Projection: 16 points
7. Jamal Lewis (Cleveland Browns) vs. Denver
Lewis has faced formidable rush defenses every week. That has affected his numbers this season. This week, that is not the case, as he faces a Denver rush defense that has allowed over five-YPC, 144 YPG, and more than a touchdown per game. Look for Lewis to post his best performance of the year, surpassing the three 14-point outings he's put up on the season.
Point Projection: 16 points
