A Quick Interim Fix For The Indy Racing League

Its Election Day here in America. A day when millions of average Joes march over to cramped buildings and wait hours in lines to write down their opinions on who needs to be leading this country.

Then we go home and pray that this year's edition of "Who's Gonna Run This Bitch?" doesn't turn into some kind of giant joke.

Having already voted myself, my mind has already begun to wander to other, more mundane things...Like the eternal argument over the look of the Dallara IndyCar.

Like the common cold, this argument just doesn't go away for very long. Eventually it'll pop back up again, annoy you even more than before, and you'll suffer through it for a week or two before it goes away.

And before too much longer, the cycle will repeat itself.

Well, I think I've come up with a cure for the IRL's equivalent to the common cold. An idea we can all get behind, and press the IRL to apply. An idea to ease the pain for the next two years until the new IRL formula comes into play.

Dallara, you've got your guaranteed chassis supply for 2011. So take break, focus on your other programs(and on developing the new IRL chassis), and lets bring back the PANOZ G-FORCE!

Yes, the Panoz G-Force! Once a common sight in the IRL field, ever since its redesign in 2000 its been one of the best-looking open-wheel racecars EVER! Even daring to look better than the Reynard Champ Car(though not the later Lola or Panoz DP01). Nowadays the G-Forces just sit in garages, collecting dust, praying some hopeful privateer will pull them out for the Indy 500.

The G-Force may not be as capable as the Dallara, but it was always a CHEAPER chassis to operate, and it certainly isn't any less safe. Just add the anti-itnrusion barriers that the Dallaras have and I see no reason it can't be used.

Even many Champ Car fans say that the Panoz G-Force is much better-looking than the Dallara—even one who still think its ugly. Take a good look at that Panoz G-Force that's pictured above. Are you REALLY gonna sit there and tell me that's NOT a better-looking car than the Dallara?

So lets bring it back! Everyone will be closer to equal ground(some teams like Rahal- Letterman and Chip Ganassi may still have an advantage) than the Dallara gives us, and we've got a car that looks fairly nice to boot. I can't see any reason to NOT use the Panoz G-Force until the new IRL car is ready to go.
