New York Yankees Trade Rumors: Will Nolasco Be Reunited with Yankees Manager?

Bronx Baseball DailyJun 7, 2018

In Sunday’s latest Full Count video by Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, he discusses the idea that if the Marlins don’t get back to .500 they could look to move righty Ricky Nolasco at the deadline.

There is a catch, though.

Rosenthal states that even though they may look to deal him, it wouldn’t just be for salary relief. That means it would cost the Yankees.

They don’t have a lot of major league ready talent that they could deal at this point. Ivan Nova is one player. Maybe the Marlins would accept a deal centered around Double-A catcher Austin Romine or one of their lesser prospects currently at the Triple-A level.

Nolasco, 28, has a 3.51 ERA, good for a 111 ERA+ in 133.1 innings this season. This is his best season since 2008, and over the past three seasons, he has a 4.44 ERA and a 93 ERA+.

He pitched in only five games for Joe Girardi when Girardi was the Marlins manager in 2007, so there probably isn’t a huge connection.
