Ramon Sessions: A Young Star on the Rise
Fantasy Tips
Words by Brandon Ribak
After breaking out the last few weeks of the 2007-08 season, averaging 8.1 points, 7.5 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and one steal per game, Ramon Sessions had All-Star talent written all over him.
Luke Ridnour beat Sessions for the starting point guard gig during preseason, quickly bringing Sessions’ value to an all-time low. But for how long will he be benched? When will the Bucks realize that this one-year guard is the key to their success?
On April 14 of last season, Sessions dropped 20 points with eight boards and a franchise-record 24 assists. Yes, 24 assists! Are you kidding me? If that doesn’t show that he has the potential to be a dynamic point guard in the league then what will prove it?
Sessions clearly stands out when he gets the minutes to show what he is all about. He has started the past two games, replacing the injured Luke Ridnour, and is tearing up the assists and points category. He is a fantasy star when given a sufficient amount of playing time.
Head coach Skiles will hopefully change his starting lineup one day soon and finally insert Sessions as the starting point guard in place of that dud Ridnour. If and when this does happen, Sessions' owned percentage in fantasy basketball leagues of a whopping 38 percent will absolutely skyrocket.
This is an alert to all fantasy players: Watch out because Sessions looks like he is in for a year of stardom. Pick him up right away, as he is still available in more than 60 percent of leagues!
