Rock at the Dock 4: Who Will Show Up to Face 'The Vanilla Gorilla'?

Robin Troutman JohnsonJun 7, 2018

Saturday, July, 16th at Queens Landing in Mooresville, NC Nick Smith, “The Vanilla Gorilla,” is scheduled to fight Tyler Scott—or is it Hamza Mutalib?

The North Carolina State Boxing Commission has him listed as Tyler Scott, but The Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission has him listed at Hamza Mutalib.

It really does not matter which one shows up. What will be interesting is to see how he performs after coming off a long suspension which he was released from on March 3rd, 2011.

Nick Smith is ready for whomever shows up, and, as always, displays a dominant show of force with his well-rounded abilities. Nick will be fighting for the welterweight title and will not let anyone or anything stand in his way. His original opponent was Jarret Smotrilla, but he had to pull out of the fight.

“The Vanilla Gorilla” (TVG) already holds two belts and plans to have another wrapped around his waist at the end of his fight.

TVG has a record of 6-1 at 185 lbs and 2-0 at 170 lbs. He trains at The Rock MMA in Huntersville and Renegade in Charlotte, NC. TVG has been training for over a year and already has a very impressive record. He is well on his way to a successful career in MMA. He is already well known in North and South Carolina and will soon be a household name.

How could he not be with such a great record, personality and superb fighting style?

After TVG captures the belt this weekend at Rock at the Dock 4, he has a fight scheduled for August 6th with Fight Lab Promotions in Charlotte, NC. For Nick’s fight in August, check back for a more detailed interview with him and his training partners.

TGV is definitely one to keep your eye on in the near future.

If you can go out this weekend, show your support for TVG and other great fighters such as Cody Wells and Matt Coakley just to name a few!
