Browns Backers,

With the recent grudge match between Phil Savage and Kellen Winslow finally over with both sides reaching a settlement and Winslow will only be fined $25,000 for his comments and still gets his game check, you would have to wonder if they might even speak to each other the rest of the season, with the Browns acting more like Romper Room I think the best way to settle this battle of egos is a UFC steel cage death match, because one or the other has to go and my money is on Winslow. And with the team’s wild-card hopes slimmer than a 90210 cast member, the distraction of Winslow/Savage could be another PR nightmare and a real Cleveland steamer.

With Winslow back in Cleveland and the team now down in Jacksonville, the Browns enter a must-win game game the pesky Jags who have been a thorn in their side since they were former rivals in the AFC North, beating Cleveland in eight out of ten all-time meetings(at least they beat Pittsburgh which isn’t all bad)and with their 23rd ranked pass defense this is either Anderson’s reprieve for another week or we will finally see Brady Quinn because as much as I like Anderson he needs to be benched because watching him play is more torture than seeing a Teletubby on crack!

It looks like the defense will have to keep the offense in the game(haven’t we seen this movie before) and with the likes of Fred Taylor, Maurice Jones-Drew and David Garrard licking their chops against our defense it doesn’t look good and despite their respectable play, we need to set the tone early and often by containing Garrard and get Jacksonville in 3 and long downs. Our former drop machine, WR Dennis Northcutt is their headache now and so far is looking vastly overpaid to be a #3 receiver, they must have been desperate!

Jacksonville’s usually stout run defense isn’t as tough as it once was and with DT Marcus Stroud defecting to Buffalo and with their vulnerable secondary, DA(or Quinn) need to take advantage of that early and often, with play-action and a steady dose of Jamal Lewis, it is possible.

It would be nice to see the Browns actually SCORE a TD instead of kicking FG’s and with the way they have been playing it sounds more like wishful thinking but we need to score points, preferably seven instead of three!! Word out of Berea is that rookie TE Martin Rucker looks ready to roll in case TE’s Heiden and Dinkins are not , and that would be a welcome sight to a team in desperate need of a infusion on offense.

As a Browns fan I’m not only disgusted in the actions of Kellen Winslow, I’m loathe to admit he is our ONLY consistent player, which makes this a tight spot in terms of who to side with, but the bottom line is that he acted out of anger and frustration and was simply showing a little fire and I don’t blame him for doing that at all, what I do blame him for is acting like a spoiled and inpectulant child towards an organization that would have and should have cut him after doing his Evel Kinevel stunt and STILL gave him a chance to recoup some of his lost bonus money because he violated a clause in his contract when any other team would have simply let him go!

Now despite the rumors of him cheating on his wife or what the real “illness” was we will never know due to HIPAA but if it is a case of staph infection then the Browns are at blame for being incompetent in their handling of this VERY embarrassing issue, no wonder why top-tier free agents don’t want to come here!

When you have SEVEN cases of staph infection in four years, something is definitely wrong, and it must be dealt with right away, and I’m not sure if the Cleveland Clinic is having a Grey’s Anatomy moment when players are trying to recover but I’m surprised that they haven’t been hit with a class action malpractice suit.

Phil Savage was highly regarded in the Ravens organization and has done a very good job of drafting, but his one major flaw is his free agency signings which haven’t panned out with the exception of Rogers, J.J., and Lewis, Corey Williams looks lost and “China Doll” Stallworth are in a hung jury right now, and his hiding the Winslow infection along with the ongoing Crennel audition tell me we have a all-around staff infection, now I’m not sure if Savage has a “Napoleon” complex but he needs to assert himself more and remind them who’s in charge!

He also needs to make up his mind on Quinn and Anderson, and judging from the crappy game play of DA he either pulls the trigger and makes Crennel switch to Quinn now or risk having his own head on the chopping block if the Browns continue to tank.

At 2-4 the Browns are fighting for their playoff lives and have to win this game, but the bad play of Anderson and the horrible coaching and game management don’t have me to hopeful

Pick: Jaguars 28 Browns 17
