New Rules: College Football Edition

HG likes Bill Maher. We don’t always agree with him, but we find him generally funny and amusing.

That being said, we are totally going to rip-off his “New Rule” riff;

New Rule: The BCS Championship Game should be the winner of the Big 12 and SEC conference. Sorry Penn State, but beating Coastal Carolina, Syracuse, and Temple, along with the pathetic Big 10 schedule, isn’t doing it for me. Just be happy to go to Pasadena so you can get your ass-kicked by USC.

New Rule: Let’s stop the political correctness and call Georgia-Florida what it is: the world’s largest outdoor cocktail party.

New Rule: The Heisman Trophy is irrelevant. I’ve never heard a year so devoid of Hypeman talk. Maybe the previous choices, especially the ones tied to their teams performance, have soured the Heisman talk.

The Heisman is from an era of newspapers and smoke-filled rooms. Now it’s dead. It doesn’t mean anything. Too often, it went to the school with the best PR department or the ‘best player’ on the ‘best pre-bowl’ team.

New Rule: The BCS needs to reevaluate whether or not the Big 10, ACC, and, to a lessor extent, the Big East, and their automatic berths to BCS Bowls. The 4th best team in both the Big 12 and SEC is better than the best team in the Big 10 or the ACC.

New Rule: White guys returning an interception for a touchdown (Minnesota vs. Northwestern) with no time left does not give me confidence in your conference.

New Rule: All hail the arrival of Texas Tech as a major national player.

New Rule: Michigan, please hand over your ’superpower program’ card. We no longer take you seriously.

New Rule: NBC, stop polluting my screen with Notre Dame Football every Saturday. You are wasting valuable $ and HG camera’s on a pathetic, outdated team.

New Rule: Washington and Washington State should both be given the ‘death penalty’ for horrible play.

New Rule: The Texas-Texas Tech game will end up being the ’84 Orange Bowl of the ’00s.
