Allen Iverson Headed to Detroit?
LayupDrill’s World Famous Rumor Mill - 11/2/08
The NBA Season isn't a week old yet, but there's a lot of news swirling around regarding some high profile names in the league.
Will AI be a Nugget going into 2009? I wouldn’t bet on it. The AI/Melo experiment seems to be in its final days and the Nuggets are trying to heat up talks to acquire Pistons guard Chauncey Billups and some other talent from Detroit.
So why would the Pistons make this move? Not really sure, as Iverson is owed almost 21 million dollars, which is nearly double what they are paying Billups.
The NY Post gets credit for dropping the story about Jason Kidd being pursued by the Knicks and offering up Steph for him. Just what we need, two point guards
past their prime trying to hold on to their relevance in the league.
The Knicks have also shown interest in trading for disgruntled Golden State Warriors forward Al Harrington. Coach D’Antoni believes Harrington would fit in very well in his system and the Knicks are ready to give up Eddy Curry or Zach Randolph to make this happen. Harrington is ready to move back closer to his tri-state roots, so this could be a perfect marriage if it goes down.
The Boston Globe also reported that the young Portland Trailblazers may be interested in acquiring some veteran leadership at the cost of their young stars.
I understand why Portland would do this, but don’t agree with it. The Blazers have arguably the best young group of talent in the league, and if they are patient and realize they won't be winning the NBA title this year or next, they could possibly compete for a deep run in the playoffs in a few seasons. Of course, a lot of that depends on if Greg Oden can stay healthy or not.
