According to MMAFighting.com, UFC light heavyweight Phil Davis has suffered a knee injury that has forced him to be ruled out of the main event at UFC 133

Davis was scheduled to face Rashad Evans in a bout to likely determine the next contender for the UFC Light Heavyweight title.

Headkicklegend.com had reported that former UFC light heavyweight champion, Lyoto Machida would replace the injured Davis in the main event, but MMAFighting.com reports Machida has not accepted the bout yet. Despite initial reports from Yahoo Sports confirming Machida's involvement, according to FightersOnly.co.uk, Brazilian websites Esportes and Clic RBS contacted the Brazilian's manager / wife, Fabyola, and were told that Machida would not fight Evans due to scheduling conflicts.

"He decided he would not be able to prepare in just three weeks," she said.

"It was very short notice and has a number of factors that need to be analyzed. So he decided he will not fight."

However, BloodyElbow.com has now confirmed that after declining the bout earlier today, suddenly Tito Ortiz has changed his mind and has now agreed to face Evans in the upcoming main event.

UFC President Dana White made the official announcement earlier today via Twitter.

"Get ready philly for Rashad Evans vs Tito Ortiz!!! Aug 6th LIVE on PPV at the Wells Fargo Center!!!!!!" White said.

As a result, Ortiz will step in for Phil Davis on a three-week notice to face Evans. Ortiz and Evans last fought at UFC 73 in 2007 that ended in a draw. Ortiz is coming a win just five weeks ago when he submitted UFC prospect Ryan Bader in the first round at UFC 132

UFC 133 will also feature a light heavyweight match up featuring Rich Franklin and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, and a middleweight bout between Vitor Belfort and Yoshihiro Akiyama.

UFC 133 is scheduled for Aug. 6 at the Wells Fargo Centre in Philadelphia.
