Allsports says Thank You Darryl Sutter

While on the web looking at sporting news, I came across this article in the National Post. It’s an interview with Darry Sutter, the general manager of the Calgary Flames, one of the five brothers to have played in the NHL.

The point is, back in the day before the limp wristed lawyers (yes, you're a limp wrist Mr. Bettman) got control of the NHL and put in stupid rules (ie. the instigator rule), the players policed themselves on the ice. If you wanted to run around being an idiot like Ryan Hollweg, chances are the next day you would have an appointment with your dentist.

Why, you ask? Because someone like Bob Probert would come out and rearrange your bridge work for you. Nothing works better as a deterrent than the threat of getting your ass kicked. The instigator rule is just a blatant example that shows the shirts (lawyers) in New York have no understanding of the game.

That point made, they should have no say in the rules or making changes to them. You have to understand the game before you can add anything of value to it. Right now it is typical Americana where they think they have the right to control whatever they are involved in.

Allsports says "Gary and your cronies, just shut up and go into the corner and "lick your nuts like a good dog."

So when are the refs in the NHL going to wake up and start making calls that matter, never mind the stupid little “How do you do” hooking penalties, start calling the cross checks to the back and on the hips of the players. These are far more dangerous as they can knock the players off balance, losing control.

Hey how about those Toronto Maple Leafs? They spotted the New York Rangers (one of the hottest teams in the league) a 2-0 lead last night, then stormed back and scored 5 straight goals in about five minutes to take the win. John Mitchell was great in the game and has really arrived as an NHL player.
