Know Your Opponent: LSU
The defending National Champion is now a mere shell of it previous self. It’s two losses were more than simple losses they were just an out and out embarrassing ass kicking. LSU may have slid down to 15th, thus hurting us in strength of schedule, but they are not to be taken all that lightly. They will be playing for pride and trying to salvage a little dignity this season.
OFFENSE:
Usually I go into detail telling you who to watch for that is dangerous, or who could hurt us. I might this time too if I could find any. This is a really bumbling offensive squad that only looks good against out of conference pansies or Auburn, who holds the title of SEC’s Most Inept Offense.
It’s hard to find reasons why the Tide should really worry about the Bayou Bunch this weekend. Their QB play is horrendous. He throws about as many picks as TD passes and scrambles like a wounded slug. They only have one decent runner and he is worse than what we’ve faced in Clemson and Georgia who also bragged how they were going to run on us before getting bitch slapped and held to really embarrassing season low stats.
They do have a couple of receivers who know how to make big catches, and they have kick returners who could burn anyone if you miss a tackle. But a team doesn’t usually win a few big plays against a team that simply steam rolls you.
Against SEC teams they average scoring 24 points, some of them were late scores when the game was out of reach like the 14 “mercy points” allowed by Georgia’s second team when the game was way of out reach or the 14 second half points Florida gave them after being ahead so bad. Alabama has averaged 32 points a game against SEC opponents. This “doubling the score” should tell you all you need to know.
DEFENSE:
If Georgia’s Moreno could rip this team for 165 yards, (he ran for 34 against us) this tells you all you need to know about this Swiss cheese defense. Against SEC teams they average giving up a staggering 33 point a game! In case your wondering, Alabama gives up about 17 points or about half what LSU does.
If the defense has a bright spot its in their ability to control the passing attacks of good teams. Stafford was limited to 249 yards and only two TD passes and Tebow only threw for 210 yards and 2 TD’s. They cover and tackle well in the secondary.
OUTLOOK FOR THE GAME:
If you’ve read and paid attention you know the outcome. If you average scoring 24 points a game and giving up 33 it won’t be pretty. Especially when you consider you’re playing a team that averages scoring 32 points a game and only giving up 17. Usually when your opponent doubles your scoring average and allows half as many points as you do you expect the ass kicking everyone else sees coming.
I really respect the tradition and rivalry between these two schools. The LSU fans have been some of the nicest I’ve ever met. And they don’t even realize yet how far they’ve slid down the SEC pecking order yet and won’t till Bama serves them up another SEC embarrassment.
I feel for LSU. During our “bad years” we didn’t lose by double digits. LSU’s recent bitch slappings still hasn’t gotten them to the realization that Nick Saban’s magic he left there is gone. They’re stuck with Miles and his silly play calling and mediocrity.
This game will be one where Alabama lines up and simply runs it down LSU’s throat all day long. We may have two backs go over a hundred yards in this game. It could easily be another 40 point offensive output. And that could be the problem.
Beating LSU so handily and so badly could serve us to be a little cocky for Florida who actually is a team that could beat us. But I don’t think Nick will let that happen.
