CM Punk Leaving WWE: 5 Different Outcomes for the Nexus

Jonathan BachJul 8, 2011

CM Punk leaving the WWE on July 17th has been the talk of the town. But one has to wonder what will happen to the faction he is leaving behind. The "New" Nexus will be without its leader. So here are five possible ways the WWE can handle the "New" Nexus without Punk.

1) The Nexus has actually gone through something similar to this before. Wade Barrett had begun to pursue his singles career which left the Nexus without a leader for a short amount of time. But David "A-list" Otunga took it upon himself to lead the Nexus while Barrett was away. So maybe the WWE can try this concept again.

But this time, Mason Ryan should take the reigns of the Nexus and lead them to the promise land. David Otunga and Michael McGillicutty are currently the WWE Tag Team Champions. So it would be weird for one of them to become the leader of the Nexus and leave the other in the dust.

2) Bring back Chris Jericho. In a time where the WWE is in need of a top heel, Jericho leading the Nexus would probably bring the WWE back up to par. There hasn't really been any bad blood between the Nexus and Jericho. And it would be a nice way to weave Jericho back into the company—he won't have to fight every night. All he has to do is kick back and watch as the Nexus does his work for him. Jericho has a nice shot of becoming a WWE Champion when he returns, so in my opinion he would be the only legitimate leader.

3) This option may be obvious: Break them up. The Nexus might not be able to live for very long without a leader and it may be the right time for Mason Ryan to move into more singles action. The Batista look a like has a lot of potential to be a force in singles competition. As for Otunga and McGillicutty. they can probably stay together like Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel did after the Corre broke apart.

4) This relates to number 3 happening. But maybe a feud between Mason Ryan and the other members of the Nexus. Mason Ryan could try and step up to be the leader, but Otunga and McGillicutty end up hating him because of it. They were members of the Nexus before he was.

5) There were other members of the Nexus before the three that we have now. Maybe we can bring some old faces back and make them a dominant force again like they were when they first came in. Skip Sheffield is still recovering from his injury, but Darren Young is still around on NXT. Husky Harris is still in FCW.

Bring them back. It may not be for long but I would prefer to not destroy the stable that has made the most impact that I've seen in a while.
