Oakland Raiders' Ronald Curry: Next to Walk The Plank?

Raider Card AddictOct 31, 2008

Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Well, not so mighty...but fun to watch.

Ronald Curry, the Wide Receiver threat in Oakland, was benched in favor of Chaz Schilens. Now, he decides to air his dirty laundry and say he feels like "the team gave up on me".

Well, if you drop enough passes that the opposing team doesn't think you're a viable threat, ya, I think they needed to.

Curry, for all purposes, didn't seem to get the fact that catching passes from Russell isn't like catching passes from Andrew Walter. With Walter, you could stand sideways, and snag the ball coming past you. With Russell, your best bet, is to turn, show the numbers on your jersey, wait a second, and have it hit you.

Russell, has both a blessing and a curse...too much speed. His only other speed, is throwing it deep, and if he does that you better be ready to run like Cliff Branch...because it'll sail on you.

Now Ronald feels unloved in Oakland....after how many coaches, QBs, and millions thrown around?

Ronald, you have two ways to look at this.

First of all, you can sulk. It did Moss a lot of good. Of course, no one will bet on you going out and setting the NFL record for TDs.

Or, you can go back, do the reps, get some confidence back, and then go prove them wrong. Don't drop the passes. Get on the same page as Russell. After all, right now the best weapon Oakland has is a Tight End named Zach Miller...and he only has 20 catches.

At the high point of your tenure in Oakland, you had 62 in 2006. Shoot, you were about the only bright point in that season on offense.

The future is yours...you can try to come back, hopefully help the new kids on this block...

Or, you can look like Jerry Porter, in Jacksonville...with one catch.

Ouch.
