Sports and Life Over/Unders For The Weekend

I think the weekend's hopes will hinge on the outcome of these propositional bets. These are provided for entertainment purposes only, unless you'd like to gamble illegally on them, in which case they are provided for that purpose.  I'll be dropping some coin with my couch-mates before kickoff, and you could improve the quality of your weekend life by doing the same. 

Brett Favre has been walking a very scary line for Jets fans, becoming the frustrating turnover machine all good Packers fans remember well, even in wins. Favre's 11 picks are tied for the league lead, though the Jets have already equaled last season's win total. Now, Sunday's big game in Buffalo looms.  The Bills have beaten the Jets three straight times, and need a shaky Favre to make it four.

Give me the over...the man is maddening, and this week it yields a loss.

The NBA season started with a win for my pick for rookie of the year, the great Derrick Rose in Chicago. The man is pure speed and aggression at the point, and his 11 pts and nine assists in game one were impressive. Friday he gets the Celts in Boston, and Saturday it's back home for Memphis...baby's first back-to-back.

Give me the over...he will be allowed to sink or swim all year.  He may have 15 turnovers in two games, but he's on his way.

Has Kyle Orton's three game run heralded the arrival of a new dependably explosive QB and offense in the NFC?  His last three games have seen an average of 301 yards, a QB rating of 106.2, five TD's, and zero picks. 

His gift this weekend is a Lions defense that is dead last in the league with more than 420 ypg allowed.  The Lions are headed towards a second straight season as the league's worst defense, a proud accomplishment not seen since 1968.

Give me the under...the Bears should still take it, but they'll have to grind a bit.
