I May Just Have Found an Outlet For Myself

Todd JacksonOct 30, 2008

It is late on a Thursday night.  Later than it should be for me to be sitting here writing an article.  I may not be sound of mind, as a friend of mine came by this evening and I might just have been enjoying myself a bit more than maybe a Thursday night calls for.

Regardless I intend to dive in head first, into what I can only describe as my true core style.  I can dance all day, at some point I want to engage for what it is really worth.

I have read it all today.

I bumped into Ms. Willis's story regarding my good friend BJ Baby J Penn, she got me thinking by the way.

I caught an article regarding the possible new center fielder for my beloved Yanks.

My good buddy Stoker wrote a very enjoyable article regarding the old west we know on the silver screen and implemented the ever changing landscape of the UFC.

I made a new friend in Mr Botter, whom I met ironically, by disagreeing with a recent UFC decision he just so happened to agree with.

How could I forget the great Brian Oswald.  This man, I am supremely confidant, will wind up leading us all in the MMA forum here on the BR.

I dont have a contraversial topic to write about.  I have nothing to tantalize your interests.

I just want to say thank you.  I'm a complex man.  There is a lot that happens in my every day life that distracts me from what is really important, this is my wife and my wonderful children, Chance and Caseya.

If I am not giving them my undivided attention, I find shelter here on the BR.  I follow my respective sports, I develop my humble opinions, I write what I feel necessary to get my point across.

Sometimes, my point is dull.  It doesn't hit close to home for those I am attempting to reach.

Other times my point is a scalpal.  It cuts to the bone.  I swing, I hit, I miss.  You indulge me no matter the case.  I thank you for it.

Dorothy mentioned in a response earlier that she should pay me or us for our time.  We listen to her opinion, we responded, we met her half way.

This got me thinking, I haven't really stopped since.  We don't have much, none of us do.  I am sure there are those things that are important to us.  Our families, our jobs, our opinions.

I ask you all this.  If you got on your soapbox today and started spouting what it is that you think is important......who would gather round and listen?

I am no Dr. Martin Luther King.  I don't have a ton of politics pumping through my veins.  I know what excites me, I know what interests me.

Here on BR I have found a haven of sorts.  People, who like me, enjoy their passions, enjoy them so much they want to share an opinion or perspective of those passions.

I have found a home.  When my home is so far away, I find refuge here on the BR to share or vent my opinions.  At times you listen, at times you respond.  I thank you.

This might seem weird, this might seem off topic.  I just felt it necessary, considering all the interaction I have with many of you.  I feel obligated to say, thank you.

If I met you face to face, this conversation and the ones held in the past would have been had over a meal or a drink.  These conversations are held over my break time at work, or free time at home.  I never really have taken the time to say thanks, and commend and show appreciation for our interaction here.

I don't think the internet is a shield against common courtesy.  I think a formal showing of appreciation for your input, your contribution, and your ear are owed.

Thank you my fellow BR writers, editors, and readers.  Your time, your input, and your opinions are valued very highly in my little corner of things.

I will now return to my life of mediocrity.  I return with the knowledge that when my turn comes, my input will also be valued by you.  This is more than I can say for my every day life and job.

Take care guys.  I hope this wasn't too weird.  It just came out of me, and I felt it necessary to share.
