Kristofer Green Picks This Weekend's Biggest College Football Games

Kristofer GreenOct 30, 2008

Another weekend of college football and another series of elimination games.  Last week we saw LSU and Ohio State get eliminated from the National Title chase.

This week, The World's Largest Cocktail Party is more than a rivalry game.  It is a pseudo play in for the SEC Championship and will end one teams hopes of playing for the national championship.

And thought the game doesn't have a catchy name, Texas will travel to Texas Tech in what will surely be a Big XII shootout of epic proportions.

And now, on to the picks...

Duke at Wake Forest -8

Duke has been playing fantastic football of late and the Demon Deacons have not.

Pick:  Duke

Northwestern at No. 17 Minnesota -6

Northwestern will be the most physical team the Gophers have face since Ohio State and even with C.J. Bacher's health in question, I like the Wildcat's chances.

Pick:  Northwestern

Tennessee at South Carolina -5.5

Tennessee have a little fight left, but Steve Spurrier loves nothing more than beating the Volunteers.

Pick:  South Carolina

No. 24 Oregon at Cal -3.5

Oregon is making a comeback.  They have been outstanding the last few games, while Cal is experiencing yet another roller coaster ride of a season.

Pick:  Oregon

Kansas State at Kansas -11.5

Todd Reesing and the Jayhawk offense will get back on track against Kansas State's porous defense.

Pick:  Kansas

Arkansas State at No. 2 Alabama -24

Do you think Nick Saban is reminding his players of the Louisiana-Monroe game from last season?  They won't let it happen again.

Pick:  Alabama

No. 13 TCU at UNLV -13.5

TCU may be the best team in the Mountain West and UNLV has had an up and down season.

Pick:  TCU

No. 15 Florida State at Georgia Tech -1

Florida State has been improving offensively, but it is the play of the defense that has been most impressive.

Pick:  Florida State

Wisconsin at No. 21 Michigan State -4.5

Can Wisconsin build off of last week's win?  It will be tough.  The Spartans are better than the Badgers.

Pick:  Michigan State

Nebraska at No. 4 Oklahoma -21.5

Nebraska has improved defensively, but Sam Bradford and the Sooners offense may be too tall a hill to climb.

Pick:  Oklahoma

Washington at No. 5 USC -43

Ty Willingham has resigned, but he will still be coaching.  This could be good or bad for the team.  Either way they will lose, but the Huskies will play hard enough to keep it closer than 43.

Pick:  Washington

Games of the Week

No. 1 Texas -5.5 at No. 7 Texas Tech

Texas Tech can score and will score against Texas.  Can Colt McCoy and the Longhorn's keep up?  I think they will, but this game may be decided by who has the ball last.

Pick:  Texas Tech

No. 8 Florida -5.5 at No. 6 Georgia

This game has so much hype that it may be difficult to live up to it.  It will.  This is going to a game for the ages.

Pick:  Florida

Upset Special

No. 18 Tulsa -6.5 at Arkansas

The Razorbacks will slow Tulsa's offensive attack and keep it close, maybe even win outright.

Pick:  Arkansas
