Most Intriguing Games Of Week Ten.

Ryan JelleyOct 30, 2008

Last week we had whole host of great games to watch. This week won't be as exciting with Penn State off and USC and Alabama both with homecoming games. But there are still a couple interesting ones to watch.

Wisconsin vs. (22)Michigan State 12:00 p.m.

Badgers started off the year ranked number twelve in the country and with high expectations to contend for a Big Ten title. Sadly for Bret Bielema it hasn't worked out quite the way he wanted and some are talking about him being on the hotseat. Meanwhile the Spartans are coming off a big win against in-state rival Michigan. Any Spartan fan can tell you the Spartans have a reputation for falling off later in the season but they're convinced this isn't the same team. We'll find out when the Badgers roll into East Lansing. Watch for Wisconsin to use running-back P.J. Hill a ton in this game.

My Prediction: Wisconsin 24, Michigan State 17

The Spartans got trounced by a powerful Buckeyes team that only beat Wisconsin by three and barely got past a wounded Michigan team. The Spartans are a little too one-dimensional totally relying on the legs of Javon Ringer. If Wisconsin shuts down Spartans running game watch for another fall in Lansing

Northwestern vs. (20)Minnesota 12:00 p.m.

Both the Gophers and Wildcats are bowl eligible and contending with each other for the number four spot in the Big Ten. Gophers shocked the nation when they became bowl eligible after seven games and took them only one game to match all their wins from last year. Northwestern meanwhile has asserted themselves as a Big Ten power this year. Get ready for some traditional Big Ten football as this should be a battle that's won in the trenches as both teams are averaging over 120 rushing yards a game.

My Prediction: Northwestern 10 Minnesota 21

Both teams are equal but Northwestern has yet to post an impressive win while Tim Brewster's Gophers have already defeated Illinois.

(5)Georgia vs. (8)Florida 3:30 p.m.

This is the game both of the teams look forward to each year. As other b/r writer Gray Ghost said "There is football season happening this weekend in Jacksonville!" This is one of the fiercest rivalries in all of college football. Georgia is coming off a big win in Baton Rouge while Florida just finished a 63-5 rout of Kentucky. This one will probably decide who faces Alabama in the SEC championship game. Georgia just got themselves back in the race for the national championship as Florida is trying to keep theirs alive.

My Prediction: Florida 35, Georgia 28

I envision Tebow lighting up the skies in this one. Watch for superstar Percy Harvin to score again and again in this one. Georgia will rely on their star Knoshown Moreno and some play-action but Florida wins this one as they have outscored their opponents by 119 points since their loss to Ole Miss four games ago.

(1)Texas vs. (6)Texas Tech 8:00 p.m.

After fending off Oklahoma, Oklahoma St., and Missouri the Longhorns now head into week nine facing another undefeated opponent and their trip to Lubbock may be their hardest challenge yet. Including Texas Tech those four opponents have a combined record of 28-4. The Red Raiders however are just starting their run through the Big 12 South with the game against the Longhorns followed by Oklahoma St. and Oklahoma.

my prediction: Texas 42, Texas Tech 31

Heisman contender Colt McCoy lights up the ground and the air for 42 points on a red raider defense that has yet to establish themselves as a power. Meanwhile Graham Harrell continues is Heisman campaign when he throws for over 350 yards and four touchdowns but falls to the Longhorns n a close one.

Nebraska vs. (4)Oklahoma 8:00 p.m.

Some still believe that Oklahoma deserves to be number two in the polls because they only lost to Texas by ten and were leading for most of the game. The Sooners can prove they deserve to be higher as they head into another rivalry game against the wheeling Cornhuskers. The Cornhuskers come into the game 5-3 but have yet to beat a serious opponent. Cornhuskers have lost to Va. Tech, Missouri, and Texas Tech so this with a big win here the Sooners can prove that they deserve to be ranked a little higher.

My Prediction Oklahoma 45, Nebraska 20

Sam Bradford will rollover this Nebraska secondary that allowed fifty-two points to Missouri and continue his run at the Heisman. Nebraska will put up a bit of fight but nothing to match the much powerful Sooner offense.

Not the most exciting week but there are some possible upsets and always some great rivalries being revisited.
