FIFA Women's World Cup 2011: United States vs. Colombia Live Blog

Well, so far, so good. The United States Women's National Team are still on a high days after they defeated Korea DPR by a score of 2-0.

The Americans now get set to take on Columbia in their second match of group play. 

The Colombians are coming off a tough 1-0 loss to Sweden. Columbia currently ranks 31st in the world, but in no way, shape or form are they pushovers. The problem with Columbia's first match was their lack of teamwork. They were able to show off some impressive individual skills but were unable to put it all together and tally one in their first World Cup match.

Columbia will definitely feel more comfortable as they settle in on Saturday morning, knowing now what the big stage is all about. The key for the Americans is going to be using their size and strength in the box as well as controlling the middle of the field.

The Americans will be the first to admit that they were not as sharp in the games leading up to the World Cup as they would have liked. However, that doesn't matter now. They dominated Korea DPR and their current momentum is all they care about.

American goalkeeper Hope Solo is coming off an impressive match against the North Koreans and she will be going for her fifth straight World Cup shutout against Columbia.

I am expecting a big day out of Abby Wambach today. She had a great game that saw her send in a lovely cross to Lauren Cheney who was able to bury it in the back of the net, but today will be all about her finishing.
