Houston Texans Vs. Minnesota Vikings Preview

Tanner ThomsOct 30, 2008

It hurts as a fan knowing that two of your starting defensive tackles are likely going to be suspended for up to four games or possibly more. Both Williamses are likely to play Sunday though.

Minnesota was off this past Sunday which was a good thing in my mind because it gave them a chance to regroup and get healthy.

Houston Texans are coming to town which makes me nervous. Houston has now won three straight games to put their record at 3-4 just like that of the Minnesota Vikings. These teams philosophies are very different. Minnesota is a run first pass second and Houston is a pass first and run second. Hopefully Minnesota can work Adrian Peterson on the ground for most of the game.

Injury Report:
Minnesota:
TE Garret Mills, Questionable, Ankle
DE Ray Edwards, Probable, Knee
FS Madieu Williams, Questionable, Neck
LB David Herron, Questionable, Hip
WR Sidney Rice, Probable, Knee

Houston:
Ahman Green, Questionable, Thigh/Groin
Kevin Walter, Probable, Knee
Mario Williams, Probable, Shoulder

Houston basically has no injuries that would harm their team in any way. On the other hand the Vikes could be without Kevin and Pat Williams as stated earlier.

Game Predictions:
Minnesota 30 Houston 27

MIN:
QB Gus Frerotte- 17-30, 187 yards, 1 touchdown, 2 interceptions
RB Adrian Peterson- 32 carries, 161 yards, 2 touchdowns, 2 receptions, 22 yards
WR Bernard Berrian- 6 rec, 88 yards, 1 touchdown
LB Chad Greenway- 9 tackles, 1 sack, 1 fumble recovery

Hou:
QB Matt Schaub- 26-39, 320 yards, 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions
RB Steve Slaton- 16 carries, 67 yards, 1 touchdown, fumble lost
WR Andre Johnson- 11 rec, 146 yards, 1 touchdown
DE Mario Williams- 6 tackles, 2.5 sacks

This is without a doubt a make or break game for the Minnesota Vikings. If Minnesota can't beat a mediocre team while at home then there isn't really much else that they can do. Houston is a much improved football team that will be able to rush at Gus Frerotte all day long. I expect Mario Williams to have a huge day on Sunday. I also expect for Adrian Peterson to break out of his miniature slump as of late.
