Maria Sharapova: Why Experience Will Lead to 2011 Wimbledon Win

Maria Sharapova Understands the Experience of Winning Wimbledon Title

You know what they say, experience is everything!

Oh wait, maybe that’s attitude is everything….

How about attitude about your experiences are everything?

That works for me.

Enough joking around here, let’s cut to the chase. I believe that Maria Sharapova is the hands down favorite to win the 2011 Wimbledon title on the women’s side. Not only do I believe she is the favorite, but I will come out right now and guarantee you that she will win the final.

Sharapova will be facing Petra Kvitova, who beat Victoria Azarenka 6-1,3-6,6-3 to advance to the finals, and honestly I don’t see many ways that Sharapova won’t come out as the champion.

Sure, there is the whole “any given Sunday” mantra that pretty much states that anybody can beat anyone on any day, which I do understand and believe, but I think Sharapova just has too much experience to allow a letdown.

Experience is going to be key in the 2011 Wimbledon final.

Sharapova won her first Grand Slam title at the All England Club back in 2004. She also went on to win the U.S Open in 2006 and the Australian Open in 2008.

She has three separate Grand Slam titles under her belt, including Wimbledon. Kvitova on the other hand is going to be playing in her first title match.

The field is slanted heavily in favor of Sharapova if only because of her experience in these big matches.

I relate this to going on a rather scary and intimidating roller coaster.

If you’ve been on it before you know exactly what the big drop feels like. You know how long it takes to click and clack your way up the hill, you know what it feels going down, and you know where all the turns and loops will be.

Perhaps you feel a little bit of nervous anticipation, but you mostly just enjoy the experience.

If you’ve never been on said roller coaster though, it’s going to feel like somebody is repeatedly punching you in the stomach as you wait in line. The climb up the hill will feel like it takes hours and most of all the drop will be the most terrifying and new experience you have felt in your life.

Maria Sharapova knows what it takes to win a Grand Slam title, and she knows how to win Wimbledon.

She knows all the twists and turns and she knows what the drop feels like.

All she has to do now is buckle up and enjoy the ride.
