WWE News: 8 Best Candidates for Ultimate Money in the Bank Ladder Match

Donald WoodJun 29, 2011

The Money In the Bank Ladder Match is one of the most prestigious matches of the entire WWE year.

It is a match that pits eight of the best athletes in the WWE against each other with the only possibility for victory coming from climbing a ladder and grabbing the hanging briefcase.

With such a high risk match, the WWE should be using their best high-flying athletes as well as some great mat wrestlers to make the battles in and around the ring worth it for the fans.

There are so many situations that the WWE can lay out in an eight-man match, but when you add ladders to the mix with a World Championship Contract hanging from the rafters, it’s all about the excitement.

The following list is of the top eight current WWE superstars that we would have in the Ultimate Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Enjoy!

8. Daniel Bryan

1 of 8

While Daniel Bryan is not the prototypical high-flying type of wrestler, he is more than able to fend for himself in a long match like the Money in the Bank ladder match.

Bryan is a stellar mat wrestler, and it would be his stellar in-ring performance that kept the crowd interested before the rush to the briefcase takes off.

Even though Bryan may not draw a ton of interest from the fans, they will have to respect him when he pulls off some great moves in the ladder match.

The WWE won't give him the proper push because he lacks great mic skills, but he could be one of the best pure wrestlers in the business.

7. Kofi Kingston

2 of 8

Kofi Kingston is definitely one of the best high-flying wrestlers in the WWE, and his talents would be used well in any type of ladder match.

Kingston has proved that he is not afraid to put his body on the line for the sport, and his matches are always some of the best of the evening.

The WWE doesn’t utilize their athletes who don’t speak well on the mic, but you don’t have to be a great voice to work a Money in the Bank ladder match. Kofi could use his amazing athleticism to dominate a match like this.

While it is still very far off, Kofi could further earn his stripes in the WWE and challenge for the World belt, but not right now.

6. John Morrison

3 of 8

While John Morrison doesn’t seem like the type of wrestler that would fit into the scheme of a Money in the Bank ladder match, he is a veteran of the matches and would be a welcomed addition.

Morrison is surprisingly athletic for a man of his size, and he has shown in the past that he is crazy enough to pull off some of the wildest moves in ladder match history.

The WWE has seen Morrison break his nose with a ladder in the past and fight through it, and it’s that experience that would make him one of the key favorites to win the briefcase.

Plus the company loves Morrison, and it’s a matter of time before he comes back from his injury and gets right back into the title picture.

5. Sin Cara

4 of 8

Sin Cara hasn’t been in the WWE for very long, but his reign in Mexico as one of the premiere Luchadores has made him an international legend.

The Mexican phenom is the definition of high-flying superstar, and his wild style is exactly what the WWE needs for a ladder match.

Sin Cara would not have a chance to win a title shot (at least not yet), but he would definitely be one of the highlights of the night.

Anytime you can get Sin Cara in the ring with another legendary Luchadore like Rey Mysterio, the fireworks are bound to go off.

4. Evan Bourne

5 of 8

In what could be the ultimate show in the match, Evan Bourne would be the Jeff Hardy of the Ultimate Money in the Bank ladder match.

Bourne lives for the top rope, and his moves from up high are second to none. While he may not be the greatest mat wrestler, Bourne would provide the ultimate "wow" moment of the night.

When it comes time for all the WWE superstars in the match to catch the one guy crazy enough to jump from the top of the tallest ladder, Bourne will be the man for the job.

Bourne is another wrestler who isn’t good enough on the mic to get a shot at a title, but he could be a real force in the WWE if he gets a manager of some type.

3. Rey Mysterio

6 of 8

Of course, there is no way you can talk about a high-flying match without including one of the best risk takers in the business, Rey Mysterio.

The former World Heavyweight Champion has headlined WrestleMania, so he knows what it takes to make a match leave a lasting impression.

Mysterio has an immense following with the youth of the WWE, so there would be no group of fans left out from rooting for this Money in the Bank ladder match.

Mysterio will be another superstar who would sell out completely and give his body to make the match the best of the night.

2. CM Punk

7 of 8

CM Punk has elevated himself into the wrestling stratosphere with his epic shoot on the latest Monday Night RAW.

That’s not the reason we would have him in the Ultimate Money in the Bank ladder match, though. Punk would be in the match because of his amazing history in these types of matches, and the fact that his style fits this match perfectly.

Punk has won two previous MitB matches and has capitalized on the world title contract each time he won.

With the idea of him quitting the organization so well known, it appears the WWE will be forced to give Punk what he wants now. Maybe even a World Title run.

1. Christian

8 of 8

When fans think of ladder matches, the images of the Hardys, the Dudley Boys, Edge and Christian come rushing back to their heads.

It was their epic match at 2000’s Summerslam that catapulted the idea of ladder matches into the unsuspecting wrestling fan’s lexicon.

Christian was one of the best parts of that match, and his attitude in the ring and style would be a great fit for a Money in the Bank ladder match at any PPV.

With Christian in the title hunt already, he would be the easy favorite to win the match, and no one would blink twice if he did. It wouldn’t be like Kane won, oh wait, he did!
