Bellator Welterweight Champ Ben Askren Wants to 'Crush' Nate Marquardt
Dana White is not the only person disgusted with Nate Marquardt.
Bellator Welterweight champion Ben Askren shared his thoughts on twitter yesterday, issuing strong words and a challenge to the former UFC Middleweight contender.
“@nathanmarquardt you are a cheater, not once but frequently. Stop cheating, come to Bellator and I will crush you."Askren tweeted.
While no one knows what Marquardt’s next move will be just yet thanks to Strikeforce and UFC being under the same banner, his next best option may be Bellator.
Bellator is the third largest MMA organization in the US behind UFC and Strikeforce.
Despite being featured on MTV 2 this year, Askren and other Bellator champions are looking for more high profile fights.
The two-time Division I wrestling champion and US Olympian was very outspoken against Marquardt just moments after the former UFC title contender explained his situation on the MMA Hour yesterday.
“I have zero sympathy for a compulsive cheater. We need less of these people in the world.” Askren tweeted to a fan.
In 2005, Marquardt tested positive for steroids and was suspended. This time around, Marquardt was publicly fired for failing medical requirements due to high testosterone levels.
Although Askren is disgusted with Marquardt, he is looking to set up perhaps one of the biggest fights in his career and Bellator’s history.
Until the Marquardt situation gets situated, Askren is set to defend his title against Jay Hieron.
