2011 MLB Trade Rumors: 5 Potential Suitors for Oakland A's Josh Willingham

The A’s are having problems this season, and are looking for ways to get on track.

Several teams have needs in the outfield and for right-handed hitters, and Willingham could be headed one of their ways soon.

Philadelphia Phillies

The Phillies need to stay within their payroll constraints, so they’re looking for someone relatively cheap.

They need a right-handed hitter, and Buster Olney of ESPN tweeted that they have expressed interest in Josh Willingham.

According to Olney, they’ve also showed interest in Michael Cuddyer of the Minnesota Twins. However, they’ve liked Willingham for a while, so he is probably their first choice.

Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta Braves have been looking for an outfield bat, according to Jayson Stark of ESPN.

Josh Willingham is on their radar, as a righty is what they’re looking for.

The Braves are ready to make a deal whenever another team is, and with the way Oakland is doing, something could happen soon.

The Rockies had been interested in Josh Willingham during the offseason, but decided against the asking price and worries over his knee.

However, if Colorado is looking for some outfield depth, they could look at him again. Willingham could be a good bat off the bench or to come in during the late innings.
