Where In The World Is Georges St. Pierre?

Naturally, I am always interested in knowing where Georges St. Pierre is and what he is doing. Unless his own grandmother is alive, I may be his oldest female fan.

Fortunately for me and all his other avid fans, Georges keeps his fans posted by blogging on the Yard Barker site. I have moonlighted there just to be "close to Georges," my hero. His latest blog "On the Move" details his where abouts since his last entry when he reported on receiving his BJJ black belt.

So I know that as I am writing this, he is honing his skills in BJJ in Brazil at Gracie Barra, even further than he already has in obtaining his belt.

He states that he stays in fighting shape all the time and does so not because "he has to," but rather because "he enjoys it" (the conditioning and work outs).

It is remarkable how dedicated he is in pursuit of his dream of one day being "the best MMA champion in the world"

For instance, readers may remember my fascination with the UFC 83 two-disc DVD set where viewers are given quick glimpses of his home in Montreal. It is a beautiful stone house with a swimming pool, huge gourmet kitchen and very sexy bathroom with a huge tub and many showers heads for a thoroughly relaxing bathing experience, (envious sighing).

Curiously, Georges has sold his beautiful home and moved to a centrally located condominium that has cut his one hour commute to the five gyms he uses (and one hour  trip return) to avoid the lost travel time and traffic driving back and forth to Montreal's island, where the gyms are located.

Having absolutely no knowledge of Montreal, his gyms, or the local traffic, I really am not familiar with what I am writing about here; my point is that the idea of finding and then leaving one's dream house to become even better at the sport of MMA is above and beyond what most people would sacrifice to "be the best." But not George!

He recently was in New York for either one of his many interviews or a photo shoot--I disremember which, then attended friend and training partner Patrick Cote's fight with Anderson Silva in Chicago.

Seeing Patrick blow his knee out, Georges remarked on the old injury and the fact that Patrick will have to undergo surgery and months of recovery before resuming his training and fighting activity. A bigger blow to Cote than any strike landed during the fight.

The morning after seeing UFC 90, Georges was on a flight to Brazil.

As much as he admits he dreads flying, he sure spends a lot of time in the air. I feel for him, as a fellow white knuckle flier.

Heights and planes are a couple of the phobias I share with the French Canadian.

Georges denied that he has started the training regimen for his fight with BJ yet, in fact, I don't think he has signed for the fight yet.

The hold up is possibly related to not having signed a new contract yet and Dana White publicly complaining about having to deal with "those pukes," Georges' CAA agents who Dana claims "always screw everything up!"

If I were Dana, I would just swallow the bile and sign the damn contract. Georges has proved his value to the UFC as a fighter and a role model. How can Dana put a price on that?

My wish is that Georges has a great time training in Brazil, gets in a lot of time relaxing on the beaches, has a safe flight home and enjoys his life in the new condo.

Even with his talent and dedication he deserves some time for himself.
