Caroline Wozniacki: Why She Will Fall Short in Grand Slam Again at Wimbledon

Carrie DunnJun 27, 2011

There's no disputing that Caroline Wozniacki is the most consistent player in the women's game at the moment.

But the best? The one who's going to win Wimbledon? I'm not so sure.

Let's look at some of the reasons why, and you have your say in the comments, so we'll see what the official Bleacher Report conclusion is.

Stamina

Even Novak Djokovic admires Wozniacki's consistency in winning so many events on the tour, which has boosted her to that coveted world No. 1 slot. But playing in all those events is inevitably draining.

Wozniacki doesn't seem to have the stamina to get her through a two-week tournament.

Fatigue

While Wozniacki is dragging herself all over the world and racking up points, other stars are taking a break, getting into peak condition and preparing for the big events, much like most of the top men do.

Would you bet on Wozniacki in a Grand Slam final against either of the Williams sisters?

Cannot Raise Her Game to the Next Level

What I see as one of Wozniacki's problems is the fact that she is so consistent.

She doesn't seem to be able to raise herself for the big events because she's used to playing at one very high level the entire time and doesn't seem to cross the line into brilliance.

Nevertheless, She Could Use the Win

Having said all this, I'd love for her to win it just to put paid to the idea that she's just a pretty face and not a Grand Slam type of player.

Come on, Caro. Pick your game up, destroy the field and prove you're one of the best.
