UFC 94 & Carano vs. Cyborg to co-main event; or two of my obsessions combined

Before you get worked into a frenzy, keep in mind that I posted this under the “fantasy section.” Also, if you have read enough of my articles you may have realized that I developed an obsession with UFC 93/94; more clearly stated the SuperBowl show.

For some reason I felt adamant that Dana White would make this the UFC’s yearly crown jewel. Obviously I was mistaken as he is making the New Year’s show his Ultimate. Actually I get the logic behind it and have moved on…no more articles on is this the best fight card ever?

Moving on to “Carano vs. Cyborg.” First of all let me state for the record that Gina is from Texas. I too am from Texas and I can state under oath that this is how they grow them down there. If you don’t believe me you can ask Jeremy Botter, a fellow Texan B/R writer.

Speaking of Jeremy, he recently wrote an article entitled, “The Five EXC Fighters the UFC Should Sign.” In his poll he listed those fighters. And guess you got No. 1? That’s right, Miss Gina Carano.

Guess who also added viewers to Elite XC’s final fight card. Miss Gina Carano strikes again.

The Elite XC practically gift wrapped this fight for anyone whose interested.

I get why Dana is adamant about not having women’s fighting .We will see if the Donald weighs in. It would fit well onto their Day of Reckoning.

Both of these men are marketing geniuses; Donald with a longer track record of course. But both men seem to have the Midas touch, so if they don’t want any part of Woman’s MMA then I will concede.

But what is stopping Dana from testing the waters out by simply putting on this fight. He would get it at a rock bottom price. I would actually suggest putting it on a free Spike card and let it be the main event.

Run the numbers and see how they come back. Compare it to other free fight cards. If it’s a flop then it’s one and done, no harm no foul.

I realize women’s sports don’t have the best track record. The WNBA has been horrible. And you don’t see much softball outside of ESPN 2. And the only time I recall women’s soccer being popular was when that one girl ripped off her shirt after scoring a goal.

But women’s MMA can submit the trend. Or perhaps this is simply the Carano Factor. Everyone loves to look a beautiful woman; both men and women.

As far as Cyborg, we would look at her for different reasons. Like when people can’t turn away from a car wreck. Or being that I now live in NYC, is that a man or a woman?

So this fight would be the Beauty Queen vs. the Freak Show?

With no disrespect meant toward Cyborg.

Would that be the beginning and the end of high-profile women’s MMA? Perhaps; and it’s also the end of my fantasy. 

Unless, Dana decides to make TUF 10, "Carano vs. Cyborg." A house full of 16 women running around in ther PJ's. Your telling me Dana couldnt make women's MMA take off?

Gina would be Team Pink and Cyborg Team Blue (more masculine)

I will quit while I am ahead on this one. Just think about it Dana.
