Michael Essien to Return Earlier Than Expected Claims Scolari
Michael Essien has been missing from the Chelsea side since the start of last month following an injury sustained on international duty for Ghana.
The Chelsea midfielder suffered cruciate knee ligament damage in a game against Libya, the initial prognosis looked pretty bleak, with estimates of even a 6 month lay-off seeming optimistic.
However, with the player himself initially expressing his hopes of an earlier return than predicted, it looks as if his positive attitude wasn’t entirely misplaced. Scolari has recently confirmed in the press that Chelsea’s 25 year old midfielder could indeed be making a return much earlier than first thought.
Scolari said: “In January, I’ll give to you good news. Very good news about new players in Chelsea.” And yet, it wasn’t costly transfers he was talking about.
Scolari added: “I can do that now if you want? Essien. I think he’ll be back a month earlier than the doctors said. I think God helped me and, in January, I think he will play for us at the last few days in January.”
