NFL Trade Rumors: Latest Buzz from Around the Web

Kyle J. RodriguezJun 23, 2011

The NFL lockout has created a entirely different offseason, where the latest news involves player/owner meetings and profit percentages.

When there are rumors about player movement, it usually is about the upcoming free agency, where everybody and their brother will be an unrestricted free agent, causing a chaotic frenzy for signings.

Still, even in the midst of this, there are trade rumors. Here are a few of them from across the web.

Feel free to add your own, with links, in the comments!

Osi Umenyiora out of New York?

1 of 7

According to the New York Daily News, Osi Umenyiora is getting increasingly frustrated with Giants GM Jerry Reese, a man he says promised to pay him like a top five defensive end, or trade him to a team that would.

The situation looks more and more like the one the Giants had with Jeremy Shockey a few years ago, which eventually ended with Shockey in New Orleans.

If the Giants don't sign Umenyiora to a new deal soon, look for him to force a trade. Umenyiora wants his money, and has had several events of anger in New York. The best way for the Giants to solve this problem may be to get rid of it all together.

Steve Smith Leaving the Panthers

2 of 7

Another rumor regarding Steve Smith has popped up, saying that the troubled receiver still wants out of Carolina, despite the reports of Cam Newton lobbying for him to stay and Smith praising new coach Ron Rivera.

Still, Smith has expressed his desire to go elsewhere many times.

The latest rumors include the Baltimore Ravens as a possible landing spot for Smith, but at this point, it's still a question whether he'll even take off, or stay grounded at Carolina.

Patriots Dealing Julian Edelman?

3 of 7

While Julian Edelman has been reported as Wes Welker's long term replacement, it seems like that may not be the case, as it's been rumored that Edelman may be on the trade block for the Patriots.

This would indicate that the Patriots expect Welker to either be around for a few more years, or be replaced with one of the other young talents on their roster.

Either way, it would be no surprise if the Patriots looked to shop Edelman for a draft pick, as that has been their staple in the last few years.

Arizona Cardinals and Quarterbacks

4 of 7

The Cardinals need a quarterback, that much is clear. It's also fairly clear that they'll try to acquire one this offseason, via trade or free agency. There have been many different names rumored to be in discussion, including Kyle Orton and Kevin Kolb.

Last week, there were rumors reported that Kyle Orton was working out with Larry Fitzgerald, hinting at a possible deal that would send Orton to Arizona.

Now it seems though that Kolb is the best bet, as Orton is more likely to stay in Denver (that's what the rumors are anyway)

Redskins Looking to Dump Haynesworth

5 of 7

Albert Haynesworth may have one of the worst attitudes in the NFL, but everybody has seen his talent.

It seems that the Redskins are still looking to shop him, and analyst Jason La Canfora at NFL.com thinks it's likely he'll be moved.

The Eagles have been reported as being interested in the troublesome defensive tackle, as have the St. Louis Rams.

Carson Palmer: Will He Get out of Cincinnati?

6 of 7

Carson Palmer's future is still uncertain, as it has been since he demanded a trade in January.

Nobody knows still how Palmer will fare in his battle with Mike Brown, who says he won't trade him.

NFL analyst Jason La Canfora sides with Brown, saying Palmer will likely stay with the Bengals for next season.

Chris Collinsworth however, thinks otherwise, saying that Palmer had movers at his house, and that the drafting of Andy Dalton makes Palmer unnecessary. Bengals linebacker Dhani Jones agrees, saying that Palmer has "had enough." Unlike Collinsworth, Jones believes that the Bengals need somebody besides Andy Dalton to replace the leadership of Palmer.

New Orleans Running Backs

7 of 7

With the drafting of Mark Ingram in the 2011 NFL Draft, it seems that somebody from the loaded Saints' backfield is going to be on the move.

Earlier this week two coaches confirmed that Pierre Thomas will not be moved, but it looks like Reggie Bush is the most likely candidate for a trade.

Bush's $11 million contract is something the Saints would love to get rid of, especially considering the future of the Saints running game being a first round pick this year.
