Daily Buzz
Welcome to another Daily Buzz. It’s Friday October 24th and our boys are getting ready to play against the New York Rangers. The Rangers have slipped a bit since their dynamic start in Europe, dropping 3 out of the last 4 games. They’ll look to rebound against what looks like a potential sell-out crowd at Nationwide - my sources tell me that over 17,000 tickets have been sold (capacity is 18,136).
Checking center extraordinaire Mike Peca is set to play his first game after being suspended for 5 games. It’ll be nice to see him back for my first live game (hopefully). He’ll be centering Nikita Filatov and potentially Jiri Novotny. Not a bad line. I recall Voracek saying that Filatov is very tough to play against defensively, so that’ll make it tough for the Broadway Boys.
In other good news, Steve Mason has made it to Syracuse - he will play backup in tonights’ game but could play tomorrow against Rochester.
Boll also seems to be making his way back - though with the emergence of Derek Dorsett, how much do we really miss him?? Dorsett btw leads the NHL in penalty minutes (mostly because of his fisticuff penalties). It’ll be interesting to see what happens when both Torres and Modin are healthy. Don’t forget, Alex Picard will need to clear waivers in order to be sent down to Syracuse…
Oh, we’ll not be seeing King Henrik tonight, I understand that Steve Valliquette will get the start. Although, he’ll get replaced after we score 4 goals in the first period. The first goal will come off of a botched Zherdev play in the neutral zone. It’ll spring Filatov and he’ll score low glove.
You heard it here first
