Indy Car: Will Power Powers Way to Top of Speed Charts in Milwaukee
Will Power turned 69 laps today in practice for Sunday's Milwaukee 225, but his 11th lap was the quickest among drivers for the day.
Power turned a quick lap of 167.648 mph in the No.12 Verizon Wireless Honda.
Fitting enough, the guy chasing him for the lead in the points standings, Dario Franchitti, was second on the day. Franchitti turned a lap at 167.462 mph in the new Downy paint scheme for the weekend.
Helio Castroneves, defending champion Scott Dixon and Oriol Servia rounded out the top five on the day.
Andretti Autosport turned in its strongest day of the season, having all four cars (Marco sixth, Conway 11th, Hunter-Reay 12th and Danica Patrick 13th) in the top 15 on the speed charts. Marco paced the group in turning in the day's sixth-fastest speed at 166.424 mph.
The field should be tight in qualifying tomorrow, with not much margin for error. First place through 22nd on the speed charts were separated by only 0.7165 seconds.
There will be two more practice sessions tomorrow, before qualifying starts at 4:45 pm tomorrow afternoon. Mike Conway will be the first car out in tomorrow's qualifying lineup.
