NFL Week Eight Recap: Chargers Falter...Again!

The pretenders played as such, but one thing is unknown. Can the Chargers play defense? It's obvious they can't play with high-powered offenses, and their season may be in jeopardy. Detroit and Cincinnati remain winless, and the Cowboys found an answer on defense.
San Diego @ New Orleans: This game was played over the pond, in what may be an annual game in London for the foreseeable future. The crowd, mainly Brits, cheered more for the Saints in this one, and they were the ones to come out the victor, even after three players tested positive for a banned substance.

Drew Brees flung the ball around the field, picking apart the Chargers' secondary, passing for 339 yards and three touchdowns, two of them thrown Antonio Cromartie’s way.
Brees found three different wide receivers for touchdowns, but one of them was not Marques Colston. Deuce McAllister had 55 yards rushing and a touchdown, but his discipline may come down this week.
San Diego has lost three out of four, lowering their record to 3-5 on the season. They will have a bye week this week, but they want to spend it working on defense. It is evident that Shawne Merriman’s absence is affecting the Chargers, and no one has stepped up to take his spot.
The Chargers' offense continues to explode, gaining 451 yards against a depleted Saints defense. This one was a shootout that saw over 850 yards of offense. Ironically, this game didn’t have a sack; it is the ninth game this season with a game without a sack.

Tampa Bay @ Dallas: This game was ugly on both ends, but the Cowboys prevailed on a defensive effort by Dallas, the best of their season. Wade Philips took over the defensive playcalling for the ‘Boys and Mr. Fix-it fixed it today, but can he keep it up?
Brad Johnson had 122 yards and a touchdown, but it was just enough. Roy Williams (WR) had the touchdown pass, catching his first as a Cowboy. Terrell Owens had 33 yards receiving, and we very well might hear from him this week about ball distribution. Dallas only had one rusher on the day, but he...
