5 Fighters That COULD Beat Anderson Silva

Sean SchimlingOct 26, 2008

After UFC 90, I realized that Anderson Silva may just be human. He was hitting Cote with some big shots, and Cote was taking them with no reaction. To me, it just felt like I was seeing Anderson Silva in a different light. So i made this article! ENJOY!

1. Lyoto Machida

He is the LHW No. 1 contender in my eyes, and he also trains with "The Spider."  Although Silva has said that LHW belt belongs to Machida, I think these two may end up fighting.

Silva does want to challenge himself, and this would be a huge test for him. Machida is pretty soild all-around, he knows Silva better than most, and would test Silva in ways hes never thought of.

I think Silva will move up to LHW before retiring—and money talks. If Dana White were to throw a large amount to both men, they would be glad to throw down.

2. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson

Jackson is a good match for Silva because he has a chin and style that Anderson hasn't seen yet. Some may argue that Jackson's chin may not hold up, but then again, it might. Quinton is a powerful striker, and with those slams, could hurt Silva. He would obviously be in trouble on his back, but who wouldn't be.

This would be a stand up war anyways. Silva has a slight advantage, but I believe that Rampage would beat Silva.

3. Georges St.Pierre

These two are so even, its scary!

But i think GSP would be a real problem for Silva. GSP recently got his BJJ black belt, and would be able to not necessarily match Silva, but come close. He would also be able to take him down and GSP's ground and pound is relentless.

Silva would test GSP as well—this would truly be a classic! We have a good chance of seeing if my prediction of GSP winning comes true. GSP is a great striker with a good ground game as well.

GSP vs. Anderson Silva, let's all hope and pray this actually goes down!

4. Patrick Cote

Some may disagree with this pick, but from what I seen last night, he was able to stand the wrath of "The Spider." At times he was even stalking Anderson, usually its the other way around.

Cote is a good striker, and his ground game is solid, he also showed his chin is pretty good as well. Cote has also never been KO'd,if that knee wouldn't have given out,he may have pulled off a Matt Serra, and dethroned the king.

I hope a rematch happens A.S.A.P, Cote could shock the world!

5. Dan Henderson

Their first fight ended in the 2nd Round, but Hendo had Silva beaten in the first. Henderson is the type of fighter to look at the tape, and fix his mistakes.

Hendo also has beaten a very good opponent in Rousimar Palhares at UFC 88, showing he's still improving. He looked good in that fight, he has also expressed interest in going to 185 for a rematch with Silva on various websites.

I think given the chance to fight him again, Hendo would capitalize, and beat Silva.

Feel free to comment and even make your own five. I want your feedback!
