Clouds Are Clearing in the BCS Sky After Week Nine

The BCS picture got a little clearer this weekend with some great action.

I would speculate that six or seven teams still have a legitimate shot at the title, with a couple more right on the bubble.

Texas holds on to the top spot with a four-point win over Oklahoma State. State is out!

Alabama got a convincing win over Tennessee to keep No. 2 intact in the ratings!

Penn State benefited from a fourth-quarter fumble as Ohio State was driving, a pass interference call, and Evan Royster coming in with 10 minutes to go to spark the offense to a touchdown—finally!—13-6, as Ohio State is out of the picture.

Penn State could flip-flop with Alabama as Tennessee was not ranked and Ohio State was in the top 10. We shall see.

Oklahoma got a 23-point win over Kansas State to cover and keep a firm grip on No. 4.

USC had a weak victory over Arizona, just 17-10.

Meanwhile, Georgia crunched LSU. Look for Georgia to maybe sneak past USC in the rankings to perhaps No. 5. 

Florida won big over Kentucky and could slip past USC, as well.

Let's speculate: Georgia No. 5, Florida No. 6, and USC No. 7.

That leaves undefeated Texas Tech, which might very well move up into this mix, also!

Texas-Texas Tech is now a very big game in regard to the BCS rankings.

Florida-Georgia is also huge!

My projected BCS Championship Game pits Texas against Penn State for the title with Texas ultimately winning the big prize.

I think Alabama gets a loss somewhere and Georgia and Florida will be on the outside looking in, as well as Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and USC!

Next week will surely be interesting for the BCS computer rankings!
