WWE Capitol Punishment: 10 Things You Need to Know About the Riley-Miz Match

Last Monday night...

We closed another three-hour themed episode of RAW.

It was called "All-Stars" in honor of the recent release of THQ's latest WWE video game that shares the same name and it headlined Stone Cold Steve Austin as the special guest general manager.

I for one was surprised because it was in Long Island, N.Y., and we didn't have Zack Ryder on LIVE television. 

This coming Sunday is Capitol Punishment live from Washington, D.C. The WWE championship will be defended as John Cena takes on the No. 1 contender, R-Truth.

That should be interesting, especially after last night's delicious John Cena loss at the hands of CM Punk.

My close attention, however, will be on another feud. Alex Riley seeks to supplant his former master and show the world why he, and not The Miz, deserves all the attention.

The whole thing with "Rowdy" Roddy Piper was an unexpected turn of events. Alex Riley and the Hall of Famer got quite a laugh out of it.

Now, I hope a fire is lit under former WWE Champion The Miz.

This means war! 

Where is this all going to go? Let's set the stage for one of the most anticipated feuds in recent history.

The First Battle of a Great War

These two superstars are destined for greatness. This will ultimately lead them both to victory.

In the meantime, they have their work cut out for them. Alex Riley and The Miz must prove to everyone why THEY deserve all the attention.

I want to see some nasty stuff, vindictive stuff and a whole bunch of great spots. Flying body presses, submission holds, low blows...I don't care, make it a great series of matches.

Who will cost the other his Money In The Bank match?

You just know it is going to go there and hopefully to SummerSlam as well. Feel the heat, people, this war is far from over.

The Miz and Alex Riley: A New Hope

We need these two young and fresh superstars to give us the best match possible on Sunday, if only to show the world the future is one of great potential.

I am hopeful for the future, in all aspects of life. This is no exception. You have great talent here.

The Miz, Alex Riley, Dolph Ziggler, Alberto Del Rio, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton...those are just a few names...Sin Cara is another.

A bright future is upon you, WWE Universe. 

This match should serve as a reminder that the company is in a new place now. No longer are we watching "Wrestlers" but "Superstars."

The Attitude Era is finished, get over it!

There is a new mold to fit in now and they are perfect examples.

They are entertainers who play a role for you.  

This Sunday: The Miz Strikes Back

That was an expensive shirt! What a pity!

It is time the former WWE Champion takes control here. Now!

He will have planned and prepared for this match with the only outcome possible: Victory!

It is going to be so much fun to watch my obvious favorite, The Miz, unleash his rage upon that young upstart, Alex Riley.

This feud had incredible build-up. We saw this coming for months and it has just begun. I am very happy and psyched for this Sunday's match between them.

There will not be any Emily Post politeness here, just brutality, Mortal Kombat style!

Alex Riley Has Been Made to Look Very Strong

He gets a nice pop when he comes out to the ring.

Alex Riley could be a very big star someday. The likes of John Cena for sure.

Even his ring name sounds great. I just hope he is given the time to grown into his new "face" role because these next few months are crucial.

The stress and pressure could break him.

He already has many small victories over his former mentor, beating him up and thrashing his clothes. The crowd ate it all up! I love it.

Personally, I don't like my favorite superstar (The Miz) being manhandled like that, but I know so well it is for a reason.

Now, we have a match on the card that is definitely on the anxiously awaited list.

A-Ri is a star in the making. Look for him to be strong in this match and remain strong even if he should be defeated. 

Things Have Come Full Circle for The Miz

Like him or not, The Miz has come a long way and now, as done to him in the past, he will help put someone over.

From there his character will grow and further burrow himself deep in our psyche until the time comes for him to gain the true favor of the people as a much-needed "Face."

I don't expect him to lose this one. Give him a break! He already lost the previous two pay per view events.

However, it is natural to taste defeat every now and then. Call it a learning experience or whatever you like, but The Miz will become even better after all this.

He is already on the forthcoming WWE '12 video game and looks...Awesome! 

2010 was an amazing year for him, winning so many championships and being in high-profile matches.

Taking a step back in order to move two steps forward, that what I believe is happening.

There Should Be a Clear Winner

No more people saving either one

There are no allies to save them, no other superstar to interfere. This one will be fought dirty but when the smoke clears, there WILL BE a winner.

A fight is what they wanted, and that's what they'll get.

Should The Miz snatch a victory HOWEVER QUESTIONABLE, look for him to brag about it enough to force the hand of the powers that be into ordering a rematch.

Could someone like Michael Cole get in there? Nah...don't think so. His character's time is over. So who else could it be?

If you have to think about it, that means there is no one there.

I hope it ends WELL.

Please WWE, don't make this end in a no-contest. 

Return of The Miz...to Prominence

Don't count him out of the picture just yet...he may suprise us all still.

Could an eventual expulsion from RAW be in store for the "Awesome One?" 

There are so many "heels" on Monday nights it surprises me The Miz was given a stay during the 2011 draft.

I was certain at one point he'd transfer to Smackdown, where I believe he would be free to fully develop his up and coming character.

Unfortunately, I also believed he would have taken the WWE championship along with him to feud with the various superstars there.

I was wrong.

Perhaps this is not to be discarded as a potential outcome of this feud. Alex Riley could score an upset down the road and send The Miz packing.

Maybe the best move for both of their careers.

Could the title he holds up next be the World Heavyweight championship?

Whether that happens or not, look for him to become even more of a player after this is all over.

Again, call it a learning experience.

This Is A-Ri's Time to Shine

The light shines upon Alex Riley, can he take the heat?

Alex Riley is being given an incredible opportunity here. He will need to be strong of mind because if he is successful and establishes himself as a top contender, then so much will be thrust upon his shoulders.

Just like the previous great heroes, John Cena and Co., Riley will hold so many responsibilities. 

I think he is a strong guy. He will be a success. The time has come this Sunday to show us what he can do with no excuses.

My faith is in the young superstars of the future. Alex Riley and those like him will not fail us.

They Know Each Other Well

Each knows the other's mind and way of working well.

Having been paired up for so long it is obvious they had discussed strategies and ways to overcome their adversaries.

Now it is very different. They face one another. Similar strategy will no longer be effective. They will have to think outside of that and add some new moves and techniques to their arsenal of war.

The one that wins will have done so because he was one step ahead. They both have merit. Which one will pull out a new trick from the hat?

The Miz is a crafty, witty and sneaky villain, while Alex Riley is a smart, strong and determined man. There may be a whole lot of surprises this Sunday.

I get shivers just thinking about it.

The Miz Takes on Alex Riley: Very Important Match for Me

Winners right there.

It is the match I have been waiting for. I truly hope it shines and ends up being one of the highlights of the night.

I like Alex Riley's character very much but I have to admit to being quite nervous. I am a great Miz fan for many reasons.

I have mentioned this numerous times but one reason in particular is the fact he and I share similarities and in the face of such an adversary, I for one would find THE way to win!

No matter how I do it, I would do it.

Both are young, talented and part of the future. I want a few more encounters between them. That is why perhaps there should not be a clear winner.

In the end, they will have further established themselves as superstars.

Both are winners!
