Floyd Mayweather vs. Victor Ortiz, My Thoughts

The following are a few simple, short slides on my thoughts on Floyd Mayweather's upcoming fight against Victor Ortiz.

The fight takes place on September 17th, most likely at Mayweather's usual playground, the MGM Grand.

Mayweather hasn't fought since his points-win over Shane Mosley in May 2010, so what does this fight mean for both fighters and a future fight with Manny Pacquiao?

Is Mayweather Ducking Pacquiao?

Maybe, but they are ducking each other, in my opinion.

Somebody needs to put them in a room, man-to-man, to iron everything out.

In the video above, Oscar talks about Mayweather and I agree. I think Mayweather is better than Pacquiao, and this fight against Victor Ortiz (that many consider a tune-up) is a dangerous fight for Floyd.

Ortiz is fast and dangerous, ask Berto. But Mayweather is more than capable of proving why he is the best in this fight.

What happens if push comes to shove and Ortiz beats Pacquiao?

Simple, Ortiz-Pacquiao would be the big fight next year, and this may happen.

I highly doubt it, but Ortiz has the tools, and this is why I think he will probably get his chance to fight Pacquaio one day—but it won't be by going through Mayweather.

Is Mayweather Rusty?

Mayweather does not get rusty.

He is a student of the game, and he trains harder than anyone else. He often takes long breaks and comes back better than ever against great fighters—this is why he is undefeated.

Why Not Cotto?

Instead of Ortiz, many may ask: "Why not Miguel Cotto?"

The Puerto Rican welterweight is one of the best in the world and has never fought Mayweather, although he has lost to Pacquiao.

A fight with Mayweather would have been a much more lucrative fight that the fans would have bought in to.

The reason is not because this fight could be considered a tune-up, and not because Mayweather doesn't want to be pushed too hard by the powerful welterweight.
