2011 NFL Schedule: Predicting the 2nd Half of the Jets Season

After my first half predictions had the Jets at 6-2 after eight games, my second half predictions will tell you whether the Jets can repeat their playoff success and maybe even win one of the best divisions in football for the first time in a while. They begin the second half with a colossal battle with the powerhouse Pats at home.

Week 10: Vs New England Patriots

In Week 10, the Pats and Jets will be tied with the division lead at 6-2. They will meet in one of the best games of the NFL Season on Sunday Night Football, as the Jets look to get revenge after being blown out in New England earlier in the year. Expect a quick start from the Jets, but the Pats will rebound to take a 17-13 halftime lead.

However, Mark Sanchez shows that he is an elite quarterback in this league and he leads the Jets to a dominating half of football that sees them score 24 points on the Pats defense. Brady does his best to answer, but the Gang Green defense keeps him in check and the Jets roll into first place in the division.

    PREDICTION: Jets 37 Patriots 27

Week 11: At Denver Broncos

The Jets will head to Denver with just three days rest after their tiring battle with New England. At this time, the Broncos will be well out of contention but they should play the worn down Jets tough. They'll lead by 10 at halftime, but Gang Green will battle back behind a huge game from Shonn Greene to win on a field goal in the final seconds.

    PREDICTION: Jets 23 Broncos 20

Week 12: Vs Buffalo Bills

The red-hot Jets return home in Week 12 to play a division battle with the Bills. I expect them to repeat their recent domination of Buffalo as they take a quick lead and never look back, winning comfortably.

    PREDICTION: Jets 28 Bills 10

Week 13: At Washington Redskins

The now 9-2 Jets head to Washington to play the Washington Redskins. The Redskins should be off to another struggling season, and the Jets, who have now won six straight, continue their impressive play with a close win over the Skins. With the win, the Jets move into first place in the conference at 10-2.

    PREDICTION: Jets 20 Redskins 10

Week 14: Vs Kansas City Chiefs

The Jets head home to face one of their biggest challenges of the season in the Chiefs. Kansas City, led by their premier rushing attack, will maintain their competitive play from the season before, and should be around 7-5 when they roll into the Big Apple to square off with Gang Green.

The Jets should start off slow, as the Chiefs wear down the defensive line of the Jets and jump out to a 17-0 lead. New York should show some life at the end of the half, kicking a field goal to make it a 17-3 game with 30 minutes left.

But in one of the most inspiring performance in Jets history, they come back to shut down the Chiefs running game and pick off Cassel three times in the second half, one of which results in a touchdown.

The Jets score a couple of touchdowns offensively due to great field position, and capture the game by 10 points.

    PREDICTION: Jets 27 Chiefs 17

Week 15: At Philadelphia Eagles

6 of 8

This, my fellow Jet fans, is our worst nightmare. Heading into Week 15, the Jets are 12-2 and are first place in the conference and two games ahead of the 10-4 Pats.

But their eight-game winning streak comes to a crashing halt when the face the Eagles in Philadelphia.

The Eagles are just too fast for the Jets defense.

Vick should run wild and McCoy should have a big game too. Expect Jackson to beat Revis once, leading to a huge touchdown. The Eagles blow out the Jets and dent their confidence at the end of the season.

    PREDICTION: Eagles 38 Jets 17

Week 16: Vs New York Giants

This may be the biggest game of the season. A battle of New York's football teams for the bragging rights of the city. The Jets have always been the other team in the Big Apple, but it has turned around in recent years, and the Christmas game shows everybody one thing—the Jets are better than the Giants.

Gang Green bounces back from it's dismal performance in Philly and jump out to a quick start and never relinquish it, defeating the Giants handily, while picking off Eli Manning four times.

    PREDICTION: Jets 24 Giants 10

Week 17: At Miami Dolphins

8 of 8

ORCHARD PARK, NY - SEPTEMBER 12: Cameron Wake #91 and Vontae Davis #21 of the Miami Dolphins celebrate a sack against the Buffalo Bills during the NFL season opener at Ralph Wilson Stadium on September 12, 2010 in Orchard Park, New York. Miami won 15-10

Heading into the final game of the season, Gang Green is 12-3 and a win away from clinching the division and the conference. But with the Pats at 11-4 and owning the tiebreaker, they are a loss away from falling to the wild card spot. They head to Miami to play a team that has had their number, but they stop all the haters and crush the Dolphins to claim home field advantage in the playoffs.

    PREDICTION: Jets 31 Dolphins 13

The Jets are now the #1 seed in the conference, and will finally get to play a home game while also getting a first round BYE. The Jets should show the world that they are not just an AFC Championship team, but a Super Bowl team. They play a couple tough playoff games at home in the cold, including a huge win over the Patriots, again. The New York Jets are heading to their first Super Bowl since man walked on the moon.
