WWE Animated Universe 2: 10 WWE Superstars and Their Comic Book Counterparts
Surprise Surprise!
On Friday, I released a 10-page slideshow displaying numerous comparisons between WWE Superstars and comic book heroes.
Here’s a short description from my first slideshow:
The actions of a WWE Superstar are subject to debates, criticism, and ultimately, praise by the WWE Universe. From gimmicks to in-ring antics, WWE Superstars are subject to some form of discussion with each weekly show. At times, fans tend to compare WWE Superstars to other things of equal significance.
From Superstars of the past to celebrities, musicians, and actors, the WWE Superstars receive a fair amount of air time from fans across the globe.
Recently, there has been a different kind of comparison.
Instead of actual people, the WWE Universe has compared numerous WWE Superstars to characters in comic books. Having recently noticed these unique comparisons, I’ve created this slideshow to display comic book characters in their WWE counterparts.
Once again, I will base these comparisons by appearance, story similarities, and the actions of both Superstar and Hero.
The first pick of Volume 2 is….
Triple H, Thor
1 of 11
Perhaps one of the most obvious comparisons would be that of Triple H and Thor.
The similarities these two gladiators share are endless. First up, both stars share a similar physique and overall appearance.
Triple H and Thor share the same hair color, build, and at time, attire. Triple H is infamous for his barbarian-like attire that undoubtedly shares many similarities with that of Thor.
Triple H is the King of Kings while Thor is the King of Asgard.
One significant similarity would be the signature hammers both men use as weapons.
To further the comparison, Triple H was originally considered for the lead role in the recently released Thor film.
Cody Rhodes, Dr. Doom
2 of 11
The sinister Cody Rhodes and Dr. Doom are seemingly one of a kind by their current status.
Both were brilliant, young, standouts before their unfortunate accidents. After the destruction of their facial features, Cody Rhodes and Victor Von Doom embrace new lifestyles.
These lifestyles were riddled with dementia, self destruction, withdrawal.
Both began using masks to shadow their grotesque features and embraced their new found dementia.
Rhodes and Doom are natural leaders.
While Doom leads a nation, Rhodes is attempting to lead the WWE Universe to a point where they embrace their grotesque features.
Alberto Del Rio, Lex Luthor
3 of 11
The lavish lifestyles of the Mexican Aristocrat and Superman’s archenemy immediately create comparisons between the two. Both are obviously millionaires, while Lex is certainly ahead of Alberto in this category.
Del Rio and Luthor share a distinct taste in the finer things.
Both men sport lavish attire whether the occasions is formal or not. Alberto is obsessed with vehicles, while Luthor is sophisticated when it comes to machinery. Del Rio and Lex are also above average in the intelligence department.
Like I stated above, Luthor is the archenemy of Superman.
Alberto is set to take on the WWE’s version of Superman at Summerslam.
R-Truth, The Joker
4 of 11
Before viciously attacking John Morrison, it would’ve been a stretch to place Ron Killings in the same category as the greatest villain of all time.
Thing is, it has been months since Truth’s turn and his character has certainly progressed with time.
The rapping, dancing, and jobbing Superstar has certainly embraced a rare form of schizophrenia.
Simply put, R-Truth has become a psychopath.
The Joker is no stranger to this behavior. His sadistic sense of humor and infamous reputation of being an eccentric prankster has justified the comparison.
And remember, both weren’t always like this.
Maybe Little Jimmy and Bruce Wayne were too much for these two?
Big Show, The Hulk
5 of 11
Paul Wight and Bruce Banner share one attribute that can’t be ignored.
Both are giants capable of destroying anything or anyone placed in front of them. While Hulk’s power is sparked by anger, Big Show is no pushover once angered by a WWE Superstar. The resiliency of both can’t be taken likely.
I vaguely remember Big Show kicking out of the Future Shock, Zig Zag, and Beautiful Disaster months ago on SmackDown.
I’ve witnessed Hulk destroy armies and monsters equaling his size. The same as Big Show, who has battled the likes of Kane, Big Daddy V, and The Great Khali.
The level of dominance is unmatched.
Randy Orton, Victor Creed
6 of 11
Sorry, folks, but Randy Orton is not Batman.
Let’s be honest, the only reason Orton was compared to Batman is because most think he’s the Anti-Cena. Batman is the Anti-Superman but Bruce Wayne and Randy Orton share almost zero qualities.
Instead, Orton shares numerous qualities with the animal known as Victor Creed.
Victor Creed possesses the ability to recover from almost anything. When Orton is wrestling, he too shares this quality. Both also share a similar physique.
The gimmick of Randy Orton is obviously a Viper. Sabretooth is also an animal but possesses the qualities of a wolf.
Despite this, both are animals.
One particular quality to note is the resemblance. While Creed’s appearance tends to vary, the signature beard is always a staple to his appearance.
The beard Orton sports is very similar to that of Sabretooth’s.
Disagree? Watch X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Beth Phoenix, Wonder Woman
7 of 11
This one was obvious.
Beth Phoenix and Princess Diana share numerous qualities. First up, Beth Phoenix’s nickname is obviously borrowed from Diana. Beth Phoenix is the Glamazon and while Diana is an Amazon?
Intelligence and strength are both qualities of Diana and Beth.
Let’s examine Beth’s ring attire, shall we?
Beth’s ring attire is also inspired by Wonder Woman. The signature tiara justifies the notion.
Simply put, Phoenix’s entire gimmick was influenced by Diana.
Vickie Guerrero, Amanda Waller
8 of 11
Simply put, Amanda Waller doesn’t possess any super powers.
She abuses her power and utilizes her influence to pose a serious threat to heroes from the DC Universe. Amanda Waller is also a widow who supports a host of kids alone. She held numerous positions of power but was ultimately forced to resign from most.
Doesn’t this information mimic that of Vickie Guerrero?
She’s Eddie Guerrero’s widow. She raised their kids after his tragic passing. She has been a General Manager for RAW and SmackDown and resigned from the position in 2009.
She has frequently abused her power in favor of superstars like Edge and Dolph Ziggler.
Vickie Guerrero is Amanda Waller.
Daniel Bryan, Green Arrow
9 of 11
Comparing Daniel Bryan to Oliver Queen may be a stretch, but after analysis, I can safely say the two are similar in a number of ways
Both Superstars are master tacticians. Daniel Bryan is arguably the best technical wrestler in the World while Queen is a superb athlete and skilled martial artist.
Both are ladies' men. Remember Bryan’s numerous promos with the Bella Twins and Gail Kim.
Queen is infamous for being a ladies' man with the result being four kids. Go figure.
Finally, neither possess superhuman abilities. Bryan and Queen rely on their natural talent.
The Miz, Riddler
10 of 11
Edward Nigma and Mike Mizanin are seemingly polar opposites.
If you examine the antics of both, you’d understand my reasoning behind this comparison. The Riddler is a smooth-talking character. This quality is almost always overshadowed by his numerous puzzles and riddles.
The Miz is also smooth but often breaks away from this type of promo to insult the crowd.
It’s no secret that the Riddler is challenging his opponent to use his common sense. The Miz utilized a similar strategy leading up to WrestleMania 27.
The Riddler isn’t as evil and calculating as a typical villain. His enormous ego makes him somewhat of an alternative to a normal villain.
The same as The Miz when compared with heels like Alberto Del Rio and Sheamus.
Simply, both men talk a big game but are ultimately unsuccessful in the end.
Prologue: Part Three Is Coming
11 of 11
No, the series hasn’t met its end yet.
There are still numerous WWE Superstars and Heroes waiting to be placed in my slideshow. The quantity of Superstars I’ve planned for this series has forced me to create a part three.
Perhaps the biggest mystery surrounding this series is who is the Dark Knight?
Until next time...
