Belmont Racetrack: Grade 2 Vagrancy Handicap

A field of seven are scheduled to run in tomorrow's Grade Two Vagrancy, and Hilda's Passion appears to be the horse to beat.

Todd Pletcher sends out the favorite in the six-and-a-half furlong feature race at Belmont, with Javier Castellano getting the riding assignment. This speedy colt appears to be the main speed in the race and with post position two, should have a clear path to the lead.

The horse directly to her outside is Curlina, a 30:1 long shot who has won two of three starts at Belmont and should push the favorite early. Curlina won her most recent start at seven furlongs, so the distance should be no factor.

The second choice at the moment is Streaker, with Jose Lezcano. The workouts in May have been spectacular for this horse and losing six pounds from her recent win should only help her in this race.

I really like Erin Rose. This Christophe Clement horse is 8:1 on the morning line and should be around that price at race time. She's undefeated in three starts on fast tracks and is coming off an easy win on May 6 at Belmont. She's also dropping nine pounds and should be sitting just off the lead for the first five furlongs.

I can't recommend Kissa Melissa, Kid Kate or Tidal Pool.  These are the only three horses that I can't see being a factor in the race. I won't even use them in any exacta plays as I don't think they're talented enough to play a part in the race.

I actually think Erin Rose will run down Hilda's Passion.

Curlina and Tidal Pool will force Hilda's Passion to run the first five furlongs in under one minute and it will allow both Streaker and Erin Rose to close and take dead aim at the heavy favorite. 

Hilda's Passion is a very good horse and because she's run her last two races at seven furlongs, she won't be backing up in the stretch.

Erin Rose by less than a length over Hilda's Passion and Streaker in 1:15.  Don't be surprised if Erin Rose returns about $20 for every two dollars bet to win.
