TNA Impact! Wrestling (6/2) Review and Opinions
This week's TNA Impact! Wrestling opens up with Eric Bischoff receiving a letter from "The Network." Right after, we get right into a backstage fight with Velvet Sky and ODB.
ODB is beating down Velvet and they head towards the ring. Security attempts to break it up but ODB kicks them out.
Finally, ODB gets Velvet in the ring and continues her attack. ODB counts three and leaves as Velvet lays in the ring.
PERAGINE'S THOUGHTS: Another action packed start to Impact! Wrestling. Really enjoyed how TNA is starting their shows with unpredictability instead of expecting a promo by Immortal.
Mr. Anderson comes out, dressed as Sting, and says he will be facing one of his past rivals.
Backstage, Eric Bischoff is asked by Brian Kendrick to have an opportunity at Abyss. Bischoff says Kazarian has a rematch with Abyss for the X Division title at Slammiversary but decides to put him in a match tonight with Kazarian.
Back from break, we see Bischoff again in the ring with the letter about "The Network." He calls out Beer Money to the ring. Bischoff talks about Robert Roode's injury and how they should hand over their TNA Tag Team titles.
Alex Shelley comes out and announces Chris Sabin is injured for the rest of the year. Shelley asks Beer Money if he can replace Robert Roode at the pay-per-view and that he is allowed to replace him because "The Network" gave the approval.
Matt Hardy v. Crimson
Your winner, Crimson. Pretty good match, especially that it lasted much longer than usual outings. Crimson is certainly getting a run in TNA and this matchup was a good one to look at.
After commercials, we see Mr. Anderson as Sting talk with Eric Young about recreating history. He persuades Young to have a match with him later on the show.
Winter and Angelina Love backstage. Bischoff is backstage with Immortal and saying farewell.
Miss Tessmacher v. Angelina Love
Your winner, Angelina Love. Love just continues to get weirder with Winter. I am not a fan of how TNA is using Love and having the Beautiful People tag team group break apart. This was a so-so match for me.
Mr. Anderson as Sting v. Eric Young as The Great Muta
Your winner, Eric Young. At first, I did not expect much in-ring work by both but it was actually a pretty decent match with some comedy moments. After the match, Sting comes out to make the save for Eric Young.
Brian Kendrick v. Kazarian
Match goes to a time limit draw. Referee Earl Hebner talks with Bischoff, who grants the match to go five more minutes. Abyss comes out and attacks both wrestlers. Overall, a really terrific match to watch.
With Abyss laying both wrestlers out, this could set up a potential three-way at Slammiversary. Should be interesting next week. The X-Division is finally coming alive, and this match proved it.
Back from commercial break, AJ Styles enters the ring and calls out Bully Ray. Bully Ray comes out. Ray tells AJ he is everything Ray hates about a modern-day pro wrestler. AJ challenges Ray to a Last Man Standing match at Slammiversary.
Jeff Jarrett and Scott Steiner v. Kurt Angle and Matt Morgan
Your winner, Scott Steiner and Jeff Jarrett. Solid main event with good action in and out of the ring. It appears Karen Jarrett's injury will write her off TV for a bit and intensify the feud for Jeff and Kurt.
Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff come out to the ring. Bischoff speaks first about Mick Foley. Hogan takes the letter and begins to read it. He announces Foley is fired from TNA. Bischoff and Hogan celebrate in the ring.
PERAGINE'S OVERALL THOUGHTS:
This week's edition of TNA Impact Wrestling! was a solid show. I felt since the rebranding, this was the best of the three Impact! Wrestling shows.
What I enjoyed about the show was that the matches were better built and longer, even going to a time limit draw of 10 minutes. Plus, having Foley fired raises some questions on where the storyline extends to now.
Hopefully, if Impact! Wrestling continues to produce shows like this one and feature longer matches that are fun to watch, TNA will greatly benefit from this.
