NFL: 2011 Wide Receiver (WR) Rookie Rankings

My next series of posts will revolve around the new rookies coming into the NFL for 2011.  I will give you my top five in each category which should get most of you through your regular season draft but not quite enough for dynasty leagues and rookie only drafts.

AJ Green - Don’t doubt why AJ was selected before the other WR’s in the 2011 NFL rookie draft. AJ is loaded with the talent to perform at a high level in the NFL.  His major risk is who is going to be throwing him the ball in 2011.  Either way he is going to be a starting WR on the Bengals from the first game.  The Bengals will figure out the QB situation but in the meantime don’t hesitate on AJ Green.

Julio Jones – Atlanta wants to give Matty Ice Ryan some additional weapons at WR for 2011. Playing opposite Roddy White will ensure Jones gets enough targets from his stud QB.  Julio is a fairly safe bet in 2011 and it’s about time Atlanta attacked the WR position.

Greg Little – Honestly Greg Little could be the best WR out of these five in terms of dynasty upside. He is an ex-RB and his after the catch ability makes him a solid option. His dicey QB situation lowers his value among the group but he is an instant starter for the Browns from day one.

Torrey Smith – Torrey is probably not going to light it up in the short term but he plays around aging WR’s so his time will come.  This is a good dynasty league pick but temper your expectations in redraft leagues.

Jonathan Baldwin - Baldwin should start opposite Dwayne Bowe in KC.  He is going to be the Anquan Boldin to the Larry Fitzgerald as Coach Haley used to run in Arizona.  I feel good that Baldwin has big play ability and is a huge target at WR.
