BCS Busters Gone Wild!..Utah, Boise, Tulsa & Ball Could All Qualify

The rules state that a team from a non-BCS conference can qualify for a BCS bowl game if it finishes a) 12th or higher in the final BCS rankings or b) 16th or higher if it is ranked higher than a BCS conference champion.

BCS Busters Utah, Boise State, Tulsa and Ball State are presently undefeated and are a good bet to finish the season without a blemish.

UTAH  #11

Utah has already defeated Oregon State and Michigan.  They have two tough games left...BYU and TCU.  Because these two games are at home one could feel pretty comfortable about the Utes chances of finishing undefeated.

BOISE STATE  #12

Boise State has had only one relatively close game and that was against Oregon whom they defeated 37-22.  The only other real test on their schedule is Fresno State and that game will be played on the blue carpet.

Tulsa #19

Tulsa is averaging 56 points a game.  The last real hurdle for them is a date with Arkansas on the road.  Arkansas is allowing 33 points a game so the Golden Hurricanes are going to have trouble putting points on the board.

BALL SATE  #20

Ball State has beaten all their opponents by an average of 20 points.  The closest game they've had thus far was a 35-23 win over Navy.  Western Michigan(6-2) and Central Michigan(5-2) could cause a little bit of a problem, but not much.

As the season plays itself out and most of the undefeated and one loss teams in the BIG 12 and SEC beat up on each other, they will loose multiple games.  The teams in the BIG EAST and ACC are also going to eliminate each other and quite possible not even put one team in the top sixteen.  Presently the ACC has nobody in the top sixteen and  South Florida from the BIG EAST is barely hanging in at sixteen.

By winning out, the BCS Busters are going to move up the rankings.  The Computer loves undefeated teams. There is a real likelihood that Utah and Boise both enter the top ten very shortly.  Tulsa and Ball State have a chance, be it slim, to get up to fourteen or higher.

This could easily be the year that two of these outsiders make it to a BCS game.
