'Federirism' In Tennis
When Roger Federer debuted in the International tennis circuit in 1998, the world had no inkling as to what the Junior Wimbledon title holder of 1998 would be five years later. Of course only a Sooth-Sayer could have predicted that!
But whatever the case may be, Federer was cut out to be one of the best. This perhaps is mentioned time and again but every time that a fan mentions it, it is with even more and respect than before.
There have been a lot of people who felt totally lost after the stars that they used to watch retired and then, they say, their interest in the game was rejuvenated by this virtuoso.
Similar is the case of people who had not previously any interest in the sport but who have now become avid fans of the game and also of the Swiss maestro.
Federer is like new moon. With every passing day, his sheen increases casting a light upon the world never seen before but unlike the new moon which reaches its pinnacle on the full moon day and finally culminates; his sheen will never reduce for he learns something new everyday and gives something new to the sport everyday.
His name has travelled far and wide and he deserves it. Today even if people are like ignoramus about the sport, they won't be ignorant of him!
Like Albus Dumbledore, who is supposed to be the best wizard in the magical world, Roger Federer can be considered to be one of the best wizards of the sport.
His racquet, moves the way a wand moves while duelling: every shot matched with an exquisite return.
It is perhaps an honour for us that we get to see such a prodigy in action and those in the future who will hear his name called upon will probably regret the fact that they weren't around to see him play!
His game is class apart and no comparison will and can do justice to it.
The name of Roger Federer is woven with the sport of tennis in such a way that any mention about the sport without his name would sound incomplete and will constitute an unpardonable mistake.
When Rafael Nadal won the Wimbledon 2008, he himself did remark that in spite of him being the victor that day, what Roger Federer had achieved before him was something really extra-ordinary.
That is the mark and the brilliance of the sportsman: when your rival instead of boasting about his success, is actually talking and praising your achievement!
What Roger Federer has given to the world, his fans and the sport is something that can never be measured and his name, his name will be like a legacy to the people who love tennis!
