NFL Power Rankings After Week Seven

Tanner ThomsOct 21, 2008

Seven weeks are now in the books, and it's time again for me to give out my power rankings.

1. Tennessee Titans (6-0)
Still undefeated. Still dominating teams. The Titans were easily victorious over the Chiefs on Sunday for their sixth win of the season. Tennessee faces Indianapolis on Monday night.

2. New York Giants (5-1)
New York won on Sunday by the score of 29-17 over the 49ers. New York still looks like the team to beat in the NFC.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers (5-1)
Pittsburgh dominated the Bengals, 38-10 this past weekend. Pittsburgh's defense really impresses me. The defense has only given up 89 points in six games.

4. Buffalo Bills (5-1)
Another impressive win for Buffalo, this time over the struggling San Diego Chargers. Buffalo is the most improved team in the league.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-2)
On Sunday night, the Buccaneers won their fifth game over the deflating Seattle Seahawks. Looking like the Bucs we knew from 2002.

6. Carolina Panthers (5-2)
A blowout win over the Saints will get you recognized. Jake Delhomme is healthy again, which was what Carolina needed.

7. Washington Redskins (5-2)
Washington edged out a win against Cleveland on Sunday. Washington needs to improve slightly if they want to keep winning though.

8. Arizona Cardinals (4-2)
Arizona was off this week, which gave them a chance to heal up Anquan Boldin even more after the devastating hit he took against the Jets a few weeks back.

9. New England Patriots (4-2)
41-7 over the Broncos on Monday night bumps New England up several spots to No. 9. Laurence Maroney and Rodney Harrison are out for the year, by the way.

10. Atlanta Falcons (4-2)
Atlanta had a bye this weekend. Atlanta is currently riding a two-game winning streak.

11. Green Bay Packers (4-3)
Absolutely destroyed the Colts, 34-14. Green Bay's defense returned two Peyton Manning interceptions all the way to the house.

12. Chicago Bears (4-3)
Chicago escaped Sunday with a 48-41 victory over the Vikings. Chicago's special teams was the reason for their big win.

13. Denver Broncos (4-3)
Ouch, a loss to the Patriots by 34 points really hurts. Denver's injuries, missed tackles, and turnovers cost them a win.

14. Dallas Cowboys (4-3)
After back-to-back losses to the Cardinals and Rams, I have the Cowboys moving down multiple spots. Dallas needs to get Romo back in as soon as possible.

15. Philadelphia Eagles (3-3)
The Eagles were off this week. Kevin Curtis and Reggie Brown should be returning from injury on Sunday.

16. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-3)
Another bye-week team. Jacksonville has a one-game win streak headed in to Week Eight.

17. Baltimore Ravens (3-3)
Baltimore won 27-13 on the road Sunday to reach .500. Baltimore is a much better team than they were last year.

18. Indianapolis Colts (3-3)
I remember when the Colts were a great football team; now they are struggling to get above the .500 level.

19. New York Jets (3-3)
New York lost to the Oakland Raiders in overtime after Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski booted a 57 yarder right down the pipes.

20. San Diego Chargers (3-4)
Below .500! Come on, San Diego! I still believe the Chargers are a good football team. LaDainian Tomlinson seems to be getting less carries by the week.

21. Minnesota Vikings (3-4)
Something needs to change in Minnesota. Minnesota could easily be 5-2, but they lose games they have a great chance at winning. The Vikings gave up 48 points Sunday and lost to the Bears.

22. New Orleans Saints (3-4)
I thought, like most did, that with the Saints' Marques Colston and Jeremy Shockey coming back that they would win—they didn't. New Orleans lost, 30-7.

23. Houston Texans (2-4)
A current two-game winning streak going for the Texans. Houston beat the Lions 28-21 on Sunday.

24. St. Louis Rams (2-4)
Wins over two good teams—the Redskins and the Cowboys—helps the Rams move up a couple spots. St. Louis is a much better team under Jim Haslett.

25. Oakland Raiders (2-4)
Oakland isn't a bad football team at all. The Raiders won in overtime on Sunday with a near 60-yard field goal.

26. Cleveland Browns (2-4)
Cleveland almost won on Sunday over the Redskins. Cleveland needs to get it together. Kellen Winslow is now suspended for one game.

27. San Francisco 49'ers (2-5)
The 49ers are coached by former Bears linebacker Mike Singletary. I believe San Fran will improve under Singletary and utilize Frank Gore more often.

28. Miami Dolphins (2-4)
Two-game losing skid hurts the rankings for Miami. Like I said before...Miami isn't as good as their record states...Just my opinion.

29. Seattle Seahawks (1-5)
How do you like your pick now, Chris Berman? Seattle is terrible and has now lost three straight games.

30. Kansas City Chiefs (1-5)
Kansas City was dominated on Sunday to the best team in football. Larry Johnson is suspended for Kansas City's next game.

31. Detroit Lions (0-6)
Detroit nearly won on Sunday but came up short by seven points. Detroit needs something done to their squad so that they can get a win.

32. Cincinnati Bengals (0-7)
Cincinnati is very pathetic. Seven straight losses. The Bengals, on paper, have a decent squad, but not in real life. Hopefully Cedric Benson can turn them around. Keith Rivers is out for the year.
