Tiger Woods Faces Tough Choice, His Agent Parts Ways with IMG
Tiger Woods has been the main money staple for golf earnings at International Management Group.
On Tuesday, Woods said he's committed to both his agent, Mark Steinberg and the company, IMG.
"I'm committed to both, with IMG, and Mark's my agent," Woods said when asked about the relationship.
Well, another major bomb fell in the world of Woods Tuesday when Steinberg parted ways with IMG. His contract was up in June and it became a major dispute; in a Jerry Maguire move, Steinberg simply left the Cleveland sports powerhouse.
Woods has been with IMG, first secretly before he turned pro then officially after he turned pro.
His first agent was Hughes Norton, who was the man most thought would eventually take over for IMG founder Mark McCormack. In 1999, Norton suddenly, without any explanation, parted ways with IMG and was never heard from again.
Tuesday's blast will shake things even more in the already shaky world of Woods.
IMG is in a state of flux as head man Ted Forstmann battles brain cancer. He bought the company after McCormack's death for $750 million.
It will now be decision time for Woods.
Does he go with Steinberg, who has been his "guy" at IMG since 1999? Does Woods show he's a company man and stay with IMG?
He told everyone on Tuesday he's committed to both.
Tiger's got a decision to make, doesn't he?
